HOLY CARP!!!
Somehow, against all odds (not really), I've totally fallen for this show.
Maybe it's because my beard is becoming so large and unwieldy?
Maybe it's because I like their simple outlook which seems to result in some sort of quiet wisdom?

I don't know - but I can't get enough of it.

I'm sure Phil would consider me a yuppy - as I try to clean fruit smoothie out of my whiskers this morning.

I love it. It's fun to watch. But hen, like Honey Boo Boo, I grew up around a lot of folks like that so I get it. They weren't in my family, but they were and are my friends.

I grew up with rednecks. Granted, 'round here they didn't have such a drawl, but growing up around ranchers and farmers meant I was around lots of folks like this, and I totally get it.

That is to say, I watch the show and don't consider them a novelty (as I might Honey Boo Boo), but genuinely feel like I'd be great friends with them.

Don't let them fool you.

Phil was a NFL quality football player. The boys have college degrees. The uncle is a millionaire.

They are hard working, God-fearing, marketing genuises.

Yep. They have become quite wealthy and done it on their own terms. The TV show just adds to the brand.

I bet you would like it. My hubby watches it sometimes. He thinks it's funny.

Oh - I'm not fooled.
Most of the show is their schtick, more than it is their real life, and I get that.
That's what my first post was about, underneath the schtick I see a very close, intelligent, caring family that seems to have their priorities straight.

They're also hilarious.
Si is more hilarious than I can handle sometimes. "hey!"

Aqua:
It's a show about a big-bearded Louisiana family that runs a hugely successful duck call company that has made them millions. The show follows Willie, the CEO and brother to Jace and Jeb - employees. Phil is the Dad, who started the company, and Si is his brother.
They shoot things, play jokes on one another, and generally act pretty stupid - but there's a wisdom in them that I can't get enough of.

Here's a quick clip that's more of a "behind the scenes" about Jace and Si:
