We're planning for the big game this weekend. Last year, we had homemade bagels with sliced turkey, veggies, cream cheese, etc. This year we might have homemade soft pretzels with Weisswurst, mustards, bier (Hi, Klaus! ), veggies in the raw. Any other suggestions?

What will you have?

Yes, I suggest grilled tofu and assorted sashimi, cold egg noodle with warm spicy peanut sauce, satay/yakitori (also with spicy peanut sauce), rice wine (serve warm), and plum wine (serve chilled during commercial breaks).

Oh, chicken nuggets, freedom fries, and chocolate milk shake (for freedom fries dipping) work, too. All of them available as take-out from McDonald's drive-thru.

Not sure what we are having - I was invited to watch the game on a friends 47" TV. Last time I brought cheese, crackers, and summer sausage but ended up eating most of it myself. He's not much of a host but that's okay.

I used to have those issues in my late 30s, think it had to do with bad coffee.

No rhyme nor reason with me. Sometimes I get heartburn for no good reason, and other times I eat the spicy stuff and have nary a problem.

Or this one Brenda:

Cold Peppered Tuna Appetizer:
Large Tuna Steak 1" thick
Black Pepper Seeds
Olive Oil
Wasabi
Pickled Ginger.
Put a large handful of Pepper Corns in a seal able plastic bag,and smash the pepper with a mallet.
Paint the Tuna with Olive Oil and put it in the plastic bag . Toss well.
edges too.
Preheat thick fry pan very hot. Sear tuna all over. Dont forget the edges. Total cooking time ten minutes or less. (rare)
Wrap in Saran and chill over night or at least a few hours.
Slice and serve it on a platter with the Wasabi, and Ginger on the side.
Great with Ultra cold Vodka shots.

I bought some roaster sized chickens, which are surprisingly difficult to find in supermarkets - all of the ones there are 5+ pounds. Found some <4 lb chickens at Trader Joe's though. I'll probably brine one up and roast it for the game.

With corn chips and green salsa.

Sounds great, If they are the kosher chickens they are already brined, though.

Nope, not those.

But the Trader Joe's brined chickens got me into brining.

I liked them enough to pursue it myself. I've since tried the TJ version again, as well as the "rosemary chicken quarters" from the freezer section, and everything but my own brined stuff not tastes pleasingly second best. :)

I find it is always better when you do it yourself, but there are some pork products that are very good pre-brined.

Just pretend you're watching it once in a while, that's what I do. I rug hook during most of the game.
