How much ice did you get in that ice storm?

We've got freezing rain here right now.

I'm a town or two over from LD.

Goose egg. We didn't get squat. Flakes fell out of the sky but it might has well have been treefall.

Oh, but we have a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY on!

Quote:

Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 3AM EST MON until 10AM EST MON

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 10 AM EST MONDAY

PRECIPITATION TYPE

LESS THAN A TENTH INCH OF ICE

LESS THAN HALF AN INCH OF SNOW OR SLEET.
TIMING

BEGINNING LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH MID- MORNING ON MONDAY.

They call a winter weather advisory for conditions so thin you'd need a freaking micrometer just to prove they were there.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Well, we may not have a name for our storm, but we have plenty of ice. Another wave of freezing rain or drizzle is supposed to come later tonight, but there is already a good glazing of ice about .1 to .25 of an inch thick. Here's the latest from the weather service:

bump for LD

Well, we've got plenty of ice. No school here today. It's supposed to warm up a bit in the night, and rain a bit, too. As long as it doesn't freeze again in the night, we should be alright ....... until tomorrow night when it will definitely freeze.

Snow is great, but ice ....

A little freezing rain. Sidewalks were ugly but roads were fine. It warmed up throughout the day and the residual snow from The Wrath of Khan melted away. I hear it's going to be in the 60's next week.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

We're not special like you folks out east. We don't get names for our storms here. Maybe I should come up with my own?

Believe me, I find it ridiculous that they are naming these things.

Oh, I kind of like it. They just need to let us participate by naming the blizzards and such we get here in the hinterlands.

Naming blizzards sounds like fun.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Daughter was driving across Indiana in that yesterday. She was judging a drama competition. We were less than thrilled.

Yikes! That's a long trip in bad weather.

I hate to think of all the gray hair I gave me mother. Good thing she dyed it. :lol2:

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

We had a second day of no school yesterday, due to ice on rural roads, and a two-hour late start today. Daughter used her time to read an entire book for her college literature course, and she wrote about half of her paper on said book.

I had a meeting and presentation last night, and almost everyone made it, except those from a distance. The forecast called for a winter weather warning in the area, but the storm didn't roll in until midnight or later. Had the warning begun later, even those from a distance might have made the trip.

We still have a lot of ice, but the main roads were clear last night. Today, they are snow covered and the wind is picking up, creating some visibility issues. Glad to be staying around town and home today. Tonight, the temps drop and the bitter wind chills return.

This is shaping up to be a real Minnesoooooota winter. :)

Here comes the rain.
But it's warm enough not to freeze, right?
