So what brand or type of teapot do you like best? I want one that will help hold the heat well. I have a local friend who loves her Brown Betty, so I thought I'd try one.
I don't like tea that sits around in the pot too long... it gets too cold, and the tea gets oversteeped. So I prefer a smaller teapot: the tea gets consumed more quickly before it gets too old, and I don't mind if that means adding fresh hot water more frequently, as I have a Zojirushi water heater.

I use an Eclipse glass teapot I picked up for $5 in Chinatown: holds about two cups of tea.

Interesting that its shape is just like the Brown Betty. It's like a Brown Betty at the Jetson's house.

edit: For Chinese green or oolong tea, I use a YiXing teapot.

RR, it's a good thing I went back again to see your edit to your post. That second one is very interesting. We make all kinds of teas, including oolongs, greens, blacks, and just about any kind out there.

I must need to read about various teapots for various teas. You seem to know what pot suits which teas. I'm thinking we would just get one teapot to use for all types.

Ok, ok.... I put a spoiler on it..

But for what it's worth, that's Eddie Murphy in costume for a movie he was in, and not one inch of what you see is either woman, or flesh...

There is absolutely zero chance I was going to look at that closely enough to find out. :lol2:

YiXing teapots are tiny and really suitable only for individual use, but they actually do make the tea taste better.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Yixing pottery is famous throughout China and comes from an area where the clay is particularly fine grained just west of Tai Hu, a large lake in China. I travelled through there once and the smokestacks, as well as the smoke, were everywhere. I have some Yixing items as well as a couple of tea pots which I have never used.

Thanks, JB. I will have to read more about their products, including the teapots.

You should fire up the tea kettle and make some tea, too. If you were here, I'd share the Devonshire Double Cream with you. I think some scones and tea are in our near future here at our house. Daughter is home with some sort of cold/virus, so she would appreciate an afternoon tea time.

Thank you!! She and I have known each other since we were 7 years old. We are the loves of each other's lives. We should have always been together... Things in my life/marriage in Tennessee have been unraveling for a long time. Hers, here in CA, was much the same, and she and her husband divorced two years ago. Her name is Debra Kathleen.

She has a 22-year old son in Cal State Long Beach majoring in electrical engineering, a 13 year-old son, and a 12 year-old daughter.

Her mother owns and runs the art studio where she and I work. The work itself is very diverse and very gratifying. At the end of this month, we are flying back to Tennessee to pick up my Jeep and motorcycle. (And my guns.) :) The rest of my stuff will probably be coming out in the spring or early summer. :)

... as I have a Zojirushi water heater.
Well, after 7+ years of daily use, my Zojirushi water heater may have to be replaced. The container, the heating element, the pump, the electronics ... all those are fine, but the rubber/silicon seal around the lid is cracking.
