HOLY CARP!!!
In my work secret santa we are only allowed to spend £5. I picked out the name of a guy who is alot older than me but I know him quite well. He loves Bruichladdich whiskey (so much so he named his dog 'Bruich') and I want to get him a Bruichladdich themed something but not sure what I could get for a fiver.

I've done a bit of investigating and I have found some Bruichladdich scented soap for £4 but it's only 100ml so I reckon it'll be tiny (plus postage from America makes it about £15!). I also looked for miniatures, but a mini Bruichladdich is ~£10-15 and the budget is very strict at work. It's sort of a competition to see who can get the best present for only £5!

Does any body know of any other sorts of things I could be looking for, either Bruichladdich themed or something very similar he might like?

Hmm.. I am not familiar with it, so I wonder if that does not make its way across the pond. Mark?

It's from Islay, is that right? This may not be specific enough though. But on that note, you could broaden your theme, and get him something from/about the place his whiskey is from.

I love gift exchanges like this, where the fun is the challenge to really stick to a budget.

This is their web page. On their shopping section they have a dram glass for £5. Do you reckon he would like that? Or is that a bit of an odd present??

Not an odd present at all. he likely already has one, but who wouldn't like an extra glass or two?

If you could find a really good picture of the bottle label, maybe you could get it put on a coffee mug?

On a side note, while I am not a whiskey drinker, I'd sure like to try their gin. That sounds delicious.

Sue you are just a genius at thinking up presents!! I love the cup idea. He is a MASSIVE tea drinker so a personalised tea cup would be brilliant.

Ack, I've gone from having no ideas, to having too many ideas! lol Which do you think is best?

Men - what would you prefer as a present? A glass, a book or a mug?

??

I'd go for the mug - it would be unusual and distinctive.

Mik - you can get Bruichladdich over here, but it's not that common. It's an Islay, but not medicinal like Lagavulin or Laphroaig, closer to Bowmore in taste. I had some of the 18 year old a few years ago, and it was spectacular, although I seem to remember not exactly cheap.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

I just finished a bottle of Bruichladdich Rocks. It was very very good. I think I paid $45 for it. They have it in Madison.

Well, this is an excellent thread for a new idea of what to get hubby for birthday or Christmas. He might like this brand. Thanks!

Is supposed to be amazing. The guy I'm buying for is a bit of a whiskey snob and he loves this stuff. I could never pay over £1000 for a bottle of whiskey though?!

Well remembered Sue!! Yeah, she is actually a he, and he is called 'Cade' after a bounty hunter from Star Wars.

We actually got another kitten last year aswell. Just a moggy this time. A rescue kitten that had almost been eaten to death by fleas :( He was 7 weeks. He was jet black with a tiny white bit on his chest that looked like a control pannel so we called him 'Vader' :D

I love them to BITS. But they fight all the time lol. ^_^

+1 I never had a Scottish gin until Hendricks, and I am sold on that.
