no suicide bomber. They think a grenade or bomb was tossed thru a window.

no dead though. Just wounded. Taken to a different hosp then the one I work in.

they caught the guy!

He threw it in rear door when bus stopped at bus stop, and tried to run away. Caught by police a few blocks away.

I was waiting for an ER call. I was eating lunch. (salmon string beans as French fries. Cafeteria horrible. ) but the bomb was right next door to a large TA hospital so everyone went there.

Happy to hear you and your loved ones are OK!

Sad that this sort of thing is still going on over there.

You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

well, ceasefire in effect.

to be brutally honest, i didnt think there would be a ground incursion, (as i PM'd amanda) just knowing the situation here.

bibi would not have done it. and im saying this with a son called up to reserves and sitting on the the gaza border waiting.

i know bibi and barak. they are not the types for big heavy ground wars. bibi is much too cautious for all his rhetoric (which is also why i think he wont do iran) and barak is too special forces minded, there were probably countless special ops people on the ground in gaza anyway the whole week, but all covert. barak never trusted huge ground invasions.

anyway...hope things stay quiet for now.

no doubt hamas will be tooting its horn about a stunning victory, but the real test will be how long the quiet lasts...i understand that egypt and the states have given guarantees about securing the gaza egyptian border to iranian arms smuggling. because of course the first order of business for hamas will be rearming. and egypt will ultimately take responsibility for opening the gaza egyptian border, something that even after mubarak fell they were not willing to do because it meant actually policing the border. the biggest surprise for the gazans was the realization that egypt, muslim brotherhood notwithstanding, was not willing to risk american ire by sticking there necks out for gaza, kudos to morsi. he choose west over islam. they probably understood the fact that hamas was willing to sacrifice innocent blood to be an iranian proxy. in the end, the iranians are shiite and morsi et al are sunni. they hate those iranians more than they hate jews. (and in general, the west bank palestinians detest the gazans, but thats a different story) in a few weeks hamas will realize that they payed a huge price for allowing iran to push them into testing israel's nerves...it will take years and millions of qatari petrodollars to get gaza back to where it was just one week ago.

anyway, we cancelled our thanksgiving dinner tomorrow because no one was in the mood for it with our son, (brother, boyfriend) in the army.

we will make our own thanksgiving when he is home and we can enjoy turkey and stuffing without the fear of war lurking.

thanks to all who sent messages, public and private, of concern.

and boy, was that lunch i ate today foul....

some other thoughts.

Obama proved to be completely with Israel as has been in the past. All the Romney stuff about throwing israel under the bus was crapola. Strategic cooperation has never been better. Most security insiders know this. Bibi backed the wrong horse but that's water under the bridge. In his press conference tonight he took pains to thank Obama. Also for financing iron dome.

One of the big infrastructure targets hit were the tunnels carrying smuggled fuel to gaza A huge source of income for Hamas, who taxed this cheep fuel brought in from Egypt. Hamas was raking in a fortune taxing smuggled imports especially fuel. That income went up in flames last night.

What else...? The big surprise was morsi. He of course payed lip service to hamas but basically left them out on a limb. It's important not to listen to carefully to the arab rhetoric. They go on and on about Arab brotherhood and support for the Palestinian cause but all that matters is what they do. Egypt basically told hamas to fvck off and stop the stupidity.

Turkey ended up being useless.. Thy want to take from Egypt the title of being the dominat player in the Muslim world. Sorry Erdogan. U ain't Arab.. Sit on the side shut the fvck up

That's all that comes to mind now. Hope the ceasefire holds. .
