I used to play on Big Bertha all the time.

I was an avid pool player and I'd travel to Raytown in the afternoons to play on this table. I got to play very cheaply (often not paying at all - just keeping the manager busy - who was about my age). The owner of the Kling and Allen pool house lived in my parent's house till 1970 and Big Bertha was 'stored' up in a 3rd story bedroom. Willie Misconie and a bunch of pool players signed the wall. I don't know why they left that part of the story out of Bertha being in my parent's house between 19?? and 1970. We have pictures.. anyway it was a long table. - lots of fun. (I played it when it moved back to Raytown. Mickey Brandt still manages (or maybe even owns the pool hall in the basement). Sometimes I really miss my former life. I wonder if he'd remember me if I went in one afternoon. We spent a lot of time playing.

Yes, apple, you should go visit there and play a game on Big Bertha. Great story there. Be sure to get your picture taken with it, too.

I really hope you are writing your stories down, and keeping them somewhere together. You have done so many interesting things, so many unexpected things.....there should be a record somewhere for your kids to look back on one day. You are such an interesting and unique person.

I have a fancy table. Well. it will be when I get it restored. It's 107 years old.
No fancy cue. Yet.
No book.

If I have one glass of wine I cannot play piano, but I need two drinks to play pool well.

Why is that?

I had enough mispent youth in juke joints that I might could qualify as "fair", but I certainly can't run with even the medium sized dogs...
