HOLY CARP!!!
One of my dearest friends I have or will ever have passed away this morning at 6:30am.

Sondra Boggs is the mother of my best friend who died at age 23 from terminal brain cancer.

Sondra and I and my family spent many days and evenings enjoying some of life's simplest and most awesome pleasures including art, music, great food, wine and conversation.

I will miss her until my final day.

Rest In Peace Dear Sondra, You were like a mother to me and so much more.

Yet another hole in my heart that cannot be filled until I die. :(

HOLY CARP!!!
Sad news. Sorry for your loss, Mark.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

I'm sorry, Mark. This has certainly not been your best year in that respect.

I'm sad for you, Mark. It must be like losing your best friend all over again, to lose the one who shared your love and memories of him.

Some families seem unequally singled out for such experiences of mortality - which also unequally afflicts their loving friends, like you. I hope your religion and happy memories, support you through the long days separating you until you are reunited, as your faith teaches you.

Good memories are like coins in a pocketbook. Occasionally, you like to dig through your coin purse, pull out a bright and shiny copper and just hold it up to the sun to admire the light rays glinting off of it. And you think to yourself about how you came by the coin and when.

Sounds like there are a lot of good memories in that memory bag. Cherish them, delight in them and don't forget to pull one out every now and then, just to admire the glint that comes off of it.

Thank you all so much.

I know Sondra is in a better place. She is with Andy her son, and Frank her life long husband. God how I miss them.

And Bach! Oh my how she loved Bach! I bet she is having a good conversation with Mr. Bach right about now along with Glenn Gould, her absolute favorite pianist.

Well put, Jolly.

Mark, you sound like you will indeed pull out those memories and cherish them.
