about 8 to 10 guys were having a pot party in the lobby. Muffins and cereal from the pantry were serving as munchies. They were pleasant and pretty quite and I certainly have no problem with pot parties. But the smoke drifted down the hallway and into to our room. On the other hand, I had a very pleasant sleep.

Obviously staged to make you feel at home.

Hey good luck to your kiddos PD and Kathy. We did Columbia this afternoon, and just arrive in Lancaster PA for F & M tomorrow.

The Columbia program is really cool and a great fit for Margaret. If she gets into that one I don't see how she could turn it down.

Anyway, we're 2 for 2 so far. She really likes both.
I 'm toying with trying to work in a quick trip to NY with Puffin to see Columbia.

I'd be interested in knowing how the U. of Toronto handles finances for a USian, if you have a chance to give feed-back.
Considering school is much much cheaper here than in the US, I'm sure even for an international student it wouldn't be bad. My American cousins pay waaaaay more for a semester than I've paid total.

Yes BeeLady, it was Neil. Seemed like a great guy who was very focused on the kids (um I mean students...)well being.

Riley you're right about foreign school costs. One of the main reasons we can afford Columbia is because she'd spend 2 years in France. U of T seems less expensive, but their website is kinda tricky so I won't know for sure until we met with an admissions counselor on Wednesday.

That must feel great to know she's got good options. Putting all the eggs in one basket at this point isn't necessary. She can be more at ease knowing there are several nice schools for her to consider.

So true Brenda. Franklin & Marshall is now off her list. She didn't like the feel of it, and wasn't impressed with the class she sat in on. Having had too positive visits made that easier because prior to the trip F&M was #1 in her mind.

We're in Ithaca now, and will look at their (Cornell's) ILR program tomorrow.

Sitting in Niagara Falls having breakfast. We'll look at lots of falling water before hitting the road later this morning for U of Toronto.

Margaret was ready to call off the rest of the road trip after F &M. She said, "I'm going to Columbia if I get in, otherwise to Hofstra. I don't think the Cornell program is useful to what I want to do."

After the day at Cornell now she says "I'm going to either of the Ivies if I get in, otherwise to Hofstra. The Cornell program could be really useful to me."

We're all tired. One more school to go!

JF and Puffin toured Middlebury on Monday. He loved it, she was ho-hum. We'll probably skip Columbia. Even though she's graduating No. 2 in a class of 250, her her SATs in math and Reading comp are in the 700s, which seem like pretty good scores to me but put her in the bottom 25th percentile for admissions and apparently their admissions lean very heavily toward minorities. Has all of the College Confidential stuff been driving you as crazy as it does me? TMI!

Yes, too much info for me too. U of Toronto is off the list now as well. M did not like the feel of Trinity College, although the program itself seems a good fit. Might be something worth considering when/if she goes on to grad school since the Monk School of Global Affairs is very highly ranked.

We're gonna hang around Toronto another day. Maybe take in a show here. Then we'll head out on Friday for Detroit and our flight home.
