HOLY CARP!!!
|
In the past, a few of our forumites here have started threads talking about faxes, fax services, Internet fax, etc. I have recommended this company myfax.com in most of such threads. I now retract all my recommendation for this company. Over the years, I have been very satisfied with their Internet fax service ... until recently. It appears the company has been taken over by an entity called "j2 Global." "j2 Global" also owns other Internet messaging services including efax.com, eVoice, OneBox, FuseMail, Campaigner, etc. On its Internet fax service, the company now imposes a new charging/billing scheme that I consider a deal-breaker: Duration charging. Basically, every 60 seconds of transmission time counts as "one page." If you try to transmit one page of fax, and for any reason the transmission takes 601 seconds, the company counts that as 11 pages and charges you accordingly. The reason I find this to be a deal-breaker is because there is no way for me to limit my liability -- there is no way for me to tell them "stop the fax and hang-up if it doesn't finish transmission in X seconds," and I have already have three faxes that took over 1000 seconds to transmit (and each of these faxes were less than 6 pages as far as I can recall). I also cannot rule out that the extra slow transmission was not due to the company's infrastructure. So ... I will be shopping for a new Internet fax service provider. Any one has got a good recommendation, please share. Thanks in advance. |

Interesting that you should comment. I was looking at services today, and I'll join in waiting for a good recommendation. Timely. |

HOLY CARP!!!

I always find it strange when I have customers at work who request I fax their invoice rather than email it. Seems so archaic. I hate using the fax machine, it's a PITA. |
