The only way to truly dominate your opponent in a debate is to make love to his wife on stage afterwards.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

as it winds down, overall Romney won this debate.
First debate ended. I agree that Romney won the debate.

Somebody needs to tell Obama to TALK TO THE CAMERA - at least, in giving your conclusions.

Romney did this for the first time (in the conclusion), but it was powerful.
Overall, Obama seemed to be on the defensive, including unfortunate hemming and hawing. That was - from my POV - TOO bad.

He didn't look as stiff as I expected he would.

In today's modern media world, do the debates even really make much difference?
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I disagree with the pundits. These debates are basically all we have for those who want something more than a stump speech or a sound bite.

If you don't mind me asking, do you feel that you have gotten more than stump speech or sound bite from tonight's debate?

Well, I'd say this made this a horse race again, at least for now.

On the other hand, the challenger usually wins the first debate, since (1) he gains stature on stage with the pres, and (2) he's had more recent practice in the primaries and (3) he gets to prep more because he doesn't have a day job. But even considering all that Romney did a great job. It'll raise the stakes of the next two debates at the very least.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Reading their policy documents would be hopelessly old-fashioned.

Oh hang on, sorry, I meant to say releasing policy documents would be hoplessly old-fashioned.

Not to derail the thread, but I'll disagree with you on that. Have you looked at the President's schedule for the last 2 months? I'll submit that he spends more tim campaignin' than he does presidentin'. He's had plenty of time, had he chosen to use it that way.

I think Obama mis-understood the instructions for breathing into a brown paper bag to help with panic attacks.

Obama was forced numerous times to resort to that smarmy look he gets on his face as he feigns concern for "poor people" and regurgitates his talking points.

Romney kicked ass.

To be fair, he's done that for four years straight and nobody's cared much.

We need to get some network to live stream our comments on-screen during the next debate.
i watched a free live stream b/c i have no tv or cable and i would agree. the commentary here would be FAR more interesting than anything the 8 or 9 free live streaming sources could provide.

Romney seemed much sharper. Never expected to hear CNN, NBC, etc...imply that Romney won the debate. Even some democrat friends on Facebook are conceding.

That being said, I didn't like Romney's attack on funding for Sesame Street. :sword:

Does any one watching the debate feels like Romney has walked back from his own tax plan?

No mention of that 20% cut to all marginal rates, lots of denial that he would cut taxes much at all.

Not that I think it's a bad thing if he walks back from it (since I have not been impressed by his tax plananyway) ... just asking whether any one else also feels like Romney has walked back from his tax plan in tonight's debate.
