Traveling overseas starting when I was 20, I lived in Berlin for $50/month and later back on the parental dole, in Paris on the Left Bank for $250/month (and it was a palace by student standards). But that was in the good old days both re inflation and the supreme dollar>foreign currency rate of exchange. (Sigh) Here are some exciting ideas - not even counting great opportunities (listed on other sites) for free housing through pay-as-you-go volunteer work - e.g organic farms in South of France, etc. Save this for your kids if not you!
