Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

The rule is that the epee must not have more that a 1cm bend and the bend must be in 1 direction (not S'd). Most fencers prefer that the blade be curved slightly downward. After a touch many fencers do the flex to make sure that the curve is the way the want it.

The stiffness of the blade is regulated. It can't be too flexible, making "flick" touches to the hand too easy. The tip (spring loaded) must push a 750gm weigh up. The tip must also travel a minimum of 1mm before it sets the light off (not hair trigger).

For epee, if both opponents hit within 40ms, both receive a touch. Sabre & Foil have different rules and double touches are not possible.

Chris

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Great!!!! Congrats to Bonnie. That was interesting. Although my father had done some fencing and had foils that we nearly put eyes out with regularly, I never really knew anything about the details of the sport.
