One of the best marine aquarium supplies company in the midwest is closing the retail part of the operation for good and the last day of operation is tomorrow.
We drove down to Highland Park yesterday morning and spent our "average fireworks budget" on new corals and said goodbye to our absolute favorite store for such things. I picked up 8 items including this plate coral or fungia. reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fungia ![]() As I find time I will take some more photos of the other corals. |

I may have to have a salt water tank. Always wanted one. |

It does take weekly maintenance. You can get away with longer periods but you risk upsetting the balance of the environment. Daily or every other day water top-offs of water are a must to replace the water loss due to evaporation. Otherwise your salinity will go up as the water evaporates. Salt does not evaporate. So I use 1-2 Gallons of freshwater (RO/DI H2O) for top offs. My 75 gallon looses about 1 - 1.5 gallons per day. I do weekly (roughly) 10%-15% water changes with RO/DI water mixed with the proper amount of Reef Salt. This involves siphoning out 10-15 gallons of water and replacing with the salt water that was mixed the day before. |
