The owner of the business ran an ad trying to drum up a little business. Some outside know it alls have decided to stick their noses into the man's business. Get the f*ck out of his way, leave him alone, shove the touchy feely nonsense and the "one size fits all" big government stupidity square up your ass - and if you don't like what he's doing, don't go to Columbia Pennsylvania and eat at his restaurant.

This. :uparrow:

If there is someone sufficiently sensitive that they want to make a lawsuit about this kind of discrimination, is there a smart way for a restaurant owner or similar business owner to avoid lawsuits like this? Of course. Simply change from offering a "church bulletin discount day" to a "religious observance discount day," followed by some other day of the week being an "atheists and agnostics discount day."

Oh, for f*ck's sakes - it's a damned restaurant. Lots of people go out to eat after church. He's trying to catch the "after church" crowd. If people don't like that, f*ck them.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Let's bend over and accept a good ass reaming by the politically correct crowd and the ACLU and the invasive Big Brother Government and require that the man spend another 800 bucks running an ad in the paper offering discounts to attract the one or two atheists that might happen to live there.

Geez.

Don't know about Pennsylvania, but I've already stated how the word "church" would be interpreted down here. I don't think anybody would bat an eyelash if the program had come from the local synagogue or from the local mosque.

Speaking about local stuff...we've got a new rabbi in town...nice young fellow, I guess he's been here almost a year, now. Experienced some culture shock, as he is originally from up on the East Coast (Maryland, I think). According to him, when he left for down here, his friends kept telling him to be careful, because you know how bigoted those Deep South people are...they had him so wound up, he was beginning to think there was a Klansman on every corner.

His biggest shock since coming here? Not a single act of anti-semitism. None. Nada. Zippola.

You know, the world would be a better place, if some of the damned do-gooders - the kind that could fvck up a two car funeral - would just shut their mouths, kwittheirbitchin', and let the rest of us get on with life.

What the upeasters interpret as bigotry down south is the dislike southerners (and midwesterners) have for people who don't mind their own damn business.
