Not to mention several uprooted trees, many down limbs. We were at the clubhouse and had to go get all the pool umbrellas down. The morons who were at the pool left them all up when the weather got bad.

It was REALLY strong wind - foot high whitecaps on the lake. I was holding on to an open 9" pool umbrella and when the wind caught it I thought I was gonna do a Mary Poppins over the pond. Great photo op that would be.

Don't forget the bad part of the storm. Temps still going to be well over 90, and probably back over 100 tomorrow, but now hundreds or even thousands in your area just lost power and AC.

Sorry, I'm just venting some frustration over an inconsiderate jack@ss I dealt with earlier over the very same situation that is expected in our area tomorrow.

Cripes... That's much worse than I expected. What's the storm track, anybody know?

No, it went through there a few hours ago, if it did at all. Lima is about 100 miles north.

Same storm hitting me right now.

Just had new central air put in this week. Hope I keep my power to run it!

HOLY CARP!!!
I had to drive through it to the hospital from the church a (normal) hour away. I was taking a nap in the church when I was awakened by computers chirping from losing power. It was only 5:30, but the whole building was dark, like it was 10:00 or so; the only light was the battery backup emergency lights. I looked outside and the whole town had no power, the wind was blowing fiercely, no one around, and the ugliest-colored cloud had just capped the whole town. I wondered if I'd slept through a tornado warning or something. I didn't even take time to change into my work clothes; I figured I could do that at the hospital. I just threw all my crap in the car and just as I was getting in, the while sky opened up. I ended up driving the 60 miles in blinding rain and unbelievable wind - dodging downed branches and whole trees. There wasn't any power for almost the whole trip - no traffic signals, no street lights, nothing. Signs were ripped off buildings, and road signs and billboards bent and twisted. A couple of semis were overturned. Some of the scariest lightning I ever experienced. I got diverted from the exit ramp I needed once I hit Columbus because an electric pole had been snapped off and was lying in the road. About a mile up the diversion, I got blocked again by another downed power line. I got dumped into a residential neighborhood and crawled through downtown Columbus to finally get to the hospital. It ended up taking me two hours and fifteen minutes to get here; it was a good thing I left the church when I did. It was very, very ugly out there this evening.

But yeah, the rain was good. ^_^

Wow, Dewey. Scary stuff.

The worst of it went south here, into West Virginia.

We're getting it now. I've got a 9 year old boy trying to hide underneath me on one side, and an 18 month old irish/retriever mix trying to crawl underneath me on the other.

400,000 of 800,000 N. VA customers have no electric service, including us. Pear trees down everywhere including mine.

Nice rain

Yeah, 500,000 out here in Central Ohio. I won't get home till around 4:30 today to see if my place was unscathed or if I have power. Hope so.

That storm powered through Virginia last night. About 750K without power statewide. Unfortunately, we're one of them ...

It motored through at 60-80 MPH.

I can't recall seeing a radar screen quite like that. The pace was incredible. It raced from West Virginia through Virginia faster than any other storm I can remember. A squall line derecho.

We're fortunate in that our neighborhood has power. I tried driving to Fairfax this morning, what a nightmare. So I'm enjoying a rare Saturday off, and going nowhere outside my immediate neighborhood.
