The other part of googie-ism is primitive Polynesian reference like lava stone stone walls and tiki torches, which are contrasted with space age rocket fins and atomic ellipses and cantenary curves. I love that stuff.

How interesting. It's not a term I'd heard before. Thanks for posting that; I enjoyed that article.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I was never aware of the term either, but always, always loved the style. Interesting article.

When I first moved to town I lived right by a Googie-inspired park designed by R. Carl Fruend and built the year of my birth. It is still very cool today. Here is the pavilion, meant for dancing.

The restrooms are done in that style too. This picture can't be used, but you can link to it.

Incredible view of Over The Rhine, downtown and the Mill Creek area.

Very cool. I love this stuff, too. :) Here in town, there's an old Coca-Cola bottling plant that's served as a restaurant, a bookstore, a boutique, then a restaurant, and it keeps on changing hands. The building itself, is totally art deco. Our local airport and one of our local banks were built during the mid-60's, and the architecture is both kitschy and cool, at the same time. :)
