Biden Erupts - 'Most Audacious Plan In 500 Years'

Really, Joe? 500 years? A plan to kill, not capture, one guy in a family home? Have you ever heard of the Doolittle raid? How about the Vemork heavy water plant? Hell, for that matter, Pearl Harbor and the Blitzkrieg. And that's just one war. Carter's plan to rescue the hostages was far more audacious, it just wasn't successful.

Why does this remind me of esteem-based schooling, where every kid gets a trophy.

Joe Biden On Bin Laden Raid: Most 'Audacious Plan' In 500 Years
The Huffington Post | By Sam Stein
Posted: 03/19/2012 9:45 pm

Vice President Joseph Biden on Monday night upped the ante around the already quite-dramatic assassination of Osama bin Laden.

From the pool report of Biden's comments during a fundraising event in New Jersey come these quotes.

"You can go back 500 years. You cannot find a more audacious plan. Never knowing for certain. We never had more than a 48 percent probability that he was there"

Do any one of you have a doubt that if that raid failed that this guy would be a one-term president?

"This guy is willing to do the right thing and risk losing".

Without taking anything away from the quite dangerous raid to get bin Laden, there are other commander-in-chief calls that could compete for historical audaciousness. Biden's penchant for rhetorical flair may have been at work. But at other points, he was decidedly on message.

"Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive," he said, according to the pool report. "Think about it."

So Joe is finally coming around to recognizing Mr. Bush's idea to get bin Laden.

It was a long 10 years, but it had to be done.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

The "Endlösung der Judenfrage" is the only audacious (and horrible) plan that comes to my mind which might be nominated for that "500 years" title.

Yeah, that qualifies. I was more thinking immediate rather than relatively long term, but it certainly was audacious.

Your VP is a freaking cretin. My God, we colonised the Americas in the last 500 years. Obviously, the results were pretty horrendous, but the plan was totally audacious.

The Marshall Plan was very audacious too, certainly more so than the bin Laden raid. Come to think of it, the Interstate highway system was also more audacious than the bin Laden raid, so was the whole "putting a man on the moon" business. More recently, I would rate the Gingrich Moonbase as more audacious than the bin Laden raid as well.

My wife's explanation of her credit card spending was more audacious than the Bin Laden raid.

My wife's explanation of her credit card spending was more audacious than the Bin Laden raid.
Let me guess: Her explanation is based on the theme "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream"?

As far as raids go, what about Entebbe? To me that has to be the single most awesome military raid ever accomplished.

How about this one - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Nazaire_Raid.

Five Victoria Crosses - roughly, the same as Congressional Medals of Honor.

Don't think you can compare medal counts ... whatever medals they gave out for the bin Laden raid, it's classified.

It doesn't really matter if Joe Biden personally and audaciously ordered Angelina Jolie to have enormous sex witth each and every soldier that took part in the raid. The two don't compare.

Can I just put in my 2¢ and comment that the mental image of Biden "erupting" is, well, rather disturbing. :hair:

Your VP is a freaking cretin. My God, we colonised the Americas in the last 500 years. Obviously, the results were pretty horrendous, but the plan was totally audacious.

I just finished reading a book about the colonization of Jamestown.

There are no Brits on this continent and King James, by the grace of God, grants a Virginia Charter that grants all land not now owned by Christian people all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

What?

They didn't even know where the Pacific Ocean was, but it was granted.

Audacious.

You're damn lucky that dinner isn't for another 2 hours here. Hopefully that'll be enough time to wipe the image of that from my mind.
