I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
Love the blue shoes!

Is he in the stage of calling all big moving machines "trucks"? (I couldn't quite hear what he was saying at the end).

That's awesome.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

He was saying 'tracks' and pointing to the subway tracks.

The funny thing is he used to take the subway all the time. Since I got the car he's only been on it once or twice. So now its very exciting.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

No, he got excited about individual trips, but I think it took him a while to realize that we had 'our own' car. Keep in mind its not like it sits in a garage attached to our house.

That made my day. Little boys and trains; it's timeless. My son did the exact same things, the jumping, the flapping arms, pointing out the tracks.....such wonderful memories. I used to time our trips to town so we'd catch the Royal Hudson (steam train!) go by. Had to keep a distance, that thing was pretty loud and a bit scary, but oh boy it was exciting.

I had this little guy in the library the other day who came marching up to the circ desk, climbs up on the stool we have there for short people, looks at me with a very serious face and huge huge eyes, and says "Where's the train?" Don't no where he got the idea, but clearly there should have been a train going through the library. Would be cool, actually. It's an old 1920's building, originally used for the local steamship company; would be awesome to have a model train running around up by the rafters.

I loved that. We took our son to Edaville, which is a train museum, when he was about 3. He absolutely flipped out with excitement when he saw them - it's one of my happiest memories remembering him running towards the steam trains with his arms flapping about.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

What a sweetheart you have there, Jon. It's so fun to see them get excited as they learn and explore. Thanks for sharing. I love this stuff.

So sweet :) And, it's not just boys that like trains. One of my favorite things was going with my family to put pennies on the track and watch the train run over them.
And how are you today?

I loved trains as a kid, too! My favorite activity was to borrow my dad's jumper cables and clamp the two rails together near railroad crossings. Ding ding, ding ding! The gates would come down and stay down all day, you could see the line of cars for almost a mile!

What a great video!!

My 11-year-old got a VISA gift card recently. I spent the better part of a Saturday afternoon in two train stores helping him pick out the prefect train car to go on his HO scale train set that is set up in his room.

Before he goes to bed at night I can hear the thing humming. He has built buildings all around the tracks.

The train interest stays in some boys for decades. Amazing.

I took him to a see a model train display last month at our local botanical conservatory.

He was thrilled. He wanted to borrow my iPhone and put it on the back of the caboose, so he could video tape the view from the moving train.

Cool idea, but no.
