HOLY CARP!!!
i dont know anything about pap smears or psa, but good old don sure as sh1t doesnt understand mammograms.

its been a long held notion that the american practice of annual mammograms from age 40 maybe does more harm than good. most studies have only shown benefit from mammograms after age 50, because mammograms are dependent on breast density, and only with age does the density go down to give mammograms their edge, mostly post menopausal. to do them annualy from age 40 to a non high risk population only adds radiation danger without getting too much screening benefit. all the the task force which changed american recommendations did was get america in line with the rest of the world.

it had nothing at all to do with changing the lousy public health care system in the US as has been loudly voiced everywhere.

in high risk patients then yes the greater risk of breast cancer overides the risk of accumulated radiation over a lifetime.

and if i feel nontheless a need to do a mammogram, while our national health only covers it from age 50 in non high risk, then the patient can pay out of pocket about 100 dollars and thats it, she gets it.

all of dons horsh1t that its connected to obamacare is demagoguery, and ignorant demagougery at that.

cant say anything about paps and psa.

I find it a little difficult to believe that a blogger for the Charleston Daily Mail could be so ill-informed. What has happened to these great literary institutions of yore?
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

He's not so ill-informed as what you think.

A couple of things pertaining to what Bach wrote...he's right about the mammograms, clinically speaking, but ain't nobody getting a mammogram in the U.S. for $100. Ain't gonna happen.

Secondly, the science is not nearly so settled on the PSA (hybritech methodology, not just any monoclonal mouse), or the follow-on test soon to be cleared by the FDA.

I'm also not sure whether the science is settled on the pap smear intervals, so I guess I'm gonna have to do some reading.
