George Will basically tells the conservatives to refocus their energy of retaining control of the House and try to take control of the Senate, instead of trying to elect either Romney or Santorum into the White House.

What say you?

I wonder if what is left unsaid is a potential for a Romney win AND taking back the Senate, which then might usher in at least two years of run amok Republican crap like last time? Because that would be followed by the inevitable voter backlash and the undoing once again of a conservative agenda led by a guy that isn't a core conservative?

I wonder that too, Kincaid. Con's seem to lately have a knack for stepping on their crank when in power. And it stems from their social agenda.

When Dem's do it, we call it *social engineering*. I see it the same way when Con's do it.

Pay the bills within your budget, protect the coastlines and borders, maybe build a road or two. Other than that, stay the hell out of my life.

Con's are doing well right now when they stick to fiscal issues, which is what everyone is concerned about. We saw what happened to Santorum this week when he started in on social issues. Leave the social issues to the states. Stay on topic with fiscal issues, jobs and energy.

What say you?

How could anyone expect to beat a historical Nobel prize winner?

Don't even bother to try.

It's over.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I was mostly referring to lack of budgetary restraint during the Bush years, but would also throw in No Child Left Behind - an act that is antithetical to Conservative ideals.

I do agree that on social issues, the GOP would be wise to slide over toward the Libertarian side of things.

George Will basically tells the conservatives to refocus their energy of retaining control of the House and try to take control of the Senate, instead of trying to elect either Romney or Santorum into the White House.

George Will clarifies:

http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/18/george-will-backs-off-call-for-gop-to-take-focus-off-winning-white-house-to-take-congress/

Quote:

In his March 2 Washington Post column, George Will put forth the “Plan B” for stopping President Barack Obama. That plan was for Republicans to cede the White House and put an emphasis on winning both chambers of Congress. That call was met with criticism from those on the right who believe taking the presidency and winning Congress aren’t mutually exclusive.

But on Sunday’s broadcast of “This Week” on ABC, Will seemingly backed off that call. He explained that his so-called “Plan B” was meant for a time when the White House looked unwinnable, which he said has not yet arrived.

“My position then, as now, was there may come a point, I said, when political assets being finite — enthusiasm, time and money —you might want to concentrate on getting all of the gavels of the committees of Congress in the Republican hands because Obama can’t be beaten by these people,” Will said. “It’s not yet time to do that.”

Will said that there were reasons for Republicans to keep fighting for the White House. In particular, the fact that Obama’s poll numbers were so closely impacted by fluctuations in gas prices, Will said, should give Republicans hope.

“What Haley [Barbour] said a moment ago is right,” Will continued. “I mean, things are going badly for Republicans. Things are going reasonably well in the economy, at least by the normal metrics. The president’s job approval is going down, driven by gas for Pete’s sake, which tells you how fragile and brittle his support is there. So, at this point, I would say no, keep fighting, but prepare to retrench.”

1. Become a U.S. citizen.

2. Run for elective office. Sadly, the Presidency is not open to you, but we'll let you have anything else you can garner enough votes to win.

Good luck, and may God Bless.

You're gonna need it.... ;)

I don't want to tell other people how to live. Well, admittedly it would be kind of fun ordering Americans about - but I get enough of that at work, and to be honest they get sulky and disobedient after a while.
