HOLY CARP!!!

And as I say, don't confuse the inability to argue with having some 150 pages of Christology and Missiology to read and reflect on, as well as a 6-hour hospital shift to fill, between now and 8am tomorrow morning. Beyond that, though, as we've both said numerous times, you and I start with baselines so different that we can't even agree on common terminology or rules. In other words, when you and I talk theology, it's like we're both playing a game on the same board, but one of us is trying to play chess and the other is playing checkers. Doomed to failure from the start, even beginning to discuss an issue beyond merely stating what each of us believes is truly pointless. |

HOLY CARP!!!

Relative to the thread topic, this is all that matters: there's a woman who wishes to partake of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. IT does not believe she should be allowed to, because she is in a sinful state and has not fully repented of that sin, and the sacrament must be protected from being so profaned. I believe that even beyond whether one considers her sexuality a sin, she is nonetheless a sinner. Yet just like the sinners that Jesus ate with, she should be welcomed to the table just like the rest of us sinners who are partaking of the meal. The sacrament was instituted for sinners, not saints; and every one of us who eats of the bread and drinks of the cup in this world are irreparably the former, not the latter. |

Ultimately, probably not. On the other hand, if we limited thoughts expressed in TNCR to only those that "really mattered," the forum, including both my posts and yours, would vanish in a nanosecond. |

Relative to the thread topic -- you cannot even articulate my position without making strawman arguments. Which gets back to the point that you evidently quarrel because you can't argue. |

Apparently you've still missed the point. I'm choosing to neither quarrel nor argue with you, since either would be both a complete waste of each other's time, and a disservice to the one we both profess to be Lord. |

Nonsense, Dewey -- if you were neither arguing nor quarreling you wouldn't make crass misstatements about my position while arguing for your own views. You do a disservice both to the one you profess as Lord and to truth, charity and justice simultaneously by doing so. |

IT: you do not believe the lesbian woman is worthy of receiving the sacrament, and should be prevented from participating in it. I believe she is no less worthy than any of the rest of us who routinely participate in it, so she should also be permitted to participate in it. That's as simple as it can get. If you want to try to wedge an alleged strawman into those two sentences in order to be able to claim that you're being misunderstood, feel free. But I'm not going to spend the next three days arguing increasingly minute points of theology with you about it, particularly when we can't even agree on fundamental baselines for the discussion to proceed from. |

Are you always this passive aggressive? Once again you make a strawman, claiming it to be "simple as it can get", ignoring any statements of principle to the contrary, and then refuse me the opportunity to clarify. You can't argue so you quarrel. |

Good Lord, IT. I'm sitting here trying to not argue, and just say that you believe one thing, and I believe the opposite, and we can just walk away from the issue and avoid arguing. But you seem to be hell bent on arguing about something, anything, so now you want to argue about whether or not we're arguing. It's moronic. Go argue with yourself; you're undoubtedly the only person in your mind up for the challenge anyway. I've got more important things to do. |

Can we all agree that a woman that is trying to partake in communion not for the sake of communion but because she is trying to agitate the cleric should be denied? |
| The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it. | |
