Eh, I don't think they're nearly as barbarian. I think they have early bird brunch specials but that's as far as it goes. |

To be clear, I am not against the Roman Catholic Church per se, I am against a particular theological point - that of closed-table theology, something which goes far beyond the gay/lesbian issue which happened to precipitate this instance. This is a theological position espoused not only by the RCC, but by a number of Protestant denominations as well. As I pointed out, my own denomination held a very similar position for a long time. Today, you can find essentially this same theological expression, with slight variations, in the Orthodox Church; the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod; the Orthodox Presbyterian Church; the American Presbyterian Church; many Southern Baptist Churches; the Apostolic Christian Church, The Church of God in Christ; the Mennonite Church; the Amish Church; and others. As far as paganized rituals that have taken on new, Christian meaning, we Protestants have our fair share of them too, and none of us seem willing to let go of them just because of their origins and earlier meanings. A ritual is a sign of whatever we may ascribe to it and agree upon; the ritual itself is not inherently good or bad. |

Many of them are now merely cultural. Bringing trees inside for the winter holidays and kissing under the mistletoe are about as straightup Pagan as you can get, but I seriously doubt anyone steals a kiss from their wife thinking about Woden's gift of a bountiful winter harvest. Heck even having nice, big ol' fires in the hearth on Christmas Eve is kinda Pagan. Not knocking anyone who dislikes these affiliations, or doesn't practice certain traditions because of them. I'm just saying they don't bother me personally and I'm in a way kind of glad they still exist in some form; I mean c'mon most of 'em are fun. |

Yes - and to be perfectly honest about it, I doubt that most ancient pagans kissing under the mistletoe, were thinking much about Woden's gift of a bountiful winter harvest, either. As you say, c'mon, they're just fun.

See that's what we all forget, though. Pagans were just looking for an excuse to party, same as everyone else. |

Someone needs to write a book of world history based on this concept. |
| As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good? | |
