Regarding the article, and in partial defense of Wiki:

Many of these sites are maintained by a small community, and changes are allowed due to mutual familiarity between the various members. Some guy no one's heard of, who even worse, has no Wikipedia cred whatsoever attempts to change content that a group devotedly maintains is not likely to be met with much objectivity. If he was really interested in changing the site, he'd work with the community responsible for maintaining the information, plead his case and go from there, no keep changing the site in a deliberate attempt to piss them off.

Not saying this system is flawless or even ideal, but in my own experience this is indeed how it's run.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

No, then there'd be no update and new material added to Wikipedia. School children College students will be unable to do research and write papers.

Not sure how that is any defense of Wiki. Their standards for not allowing new information or corrections to be brought into the public discussion are considerably less rigorous and more arbitrary and capricious than the Church acted in the Galileo affair.

Well, the author seemed a bit baffled at the process at work, and I offered up an explanation with regards to that. I think this has less to do with Wiki's hard and fast appending rules as it does about the nature of the online communities that run each page. All I was sayin'.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Is that even possible?
Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments
and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism.

We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

Much ado about nothing.
He kept trying to edit the line someone else wrote - it sounds like he wanted to remove the part he considered to be false, rather than add to it.

The last person to scold him even gave him the acceptable model - and I'd totally agree with it.

Whether or not anthropogenic climate change is real doesn't matter, but someone shouldn't be able to change wikipedia's article on the subject and cite one source that says it's all a conspiracy. They should however be able to add to the accepted fact, saying something like "though some disagree with that claim" or something similar with the cite.

My guess is this guy didn't want to add a dissenting view, he wanted to overwrite what he considered false, even though the majority of his profession disagrees with him apparently.
