I live over on the right hand side of this image (you might have to scroll), just to the left of the 2 spires of the Mormon temple. View is from Mount Soledad, with Scripps pier and La Jolla Shores on the left, and looking north towards Del Mar. Torrey Pines golf course is above the whitish cliffs that you can see.

My townhome is pretty much in the middle of this image to the left of the brick building (which is part of a small mall). Mormon temple is an easy landmark. Commercial aircraft flying into San Diego fly over La Jolla, and the temple makes it easy to spot my home from the air.

i used to live very close to there.. right on the Del Mar/La Jolla border.. I actually had a La Jolla address 2 blocks from the beach I think right on highway 101.. or just past it. (Camino Del Mar (or Rey) was the name of the street I think) .. I paid $185 a month, splitting a rental with 3 other tenants. man.. My car had broken down and I biked EVERY where.. boy were there some big hills in that there territory. they'd be like 7 miles long. I worked at the race track, and a bike shop and a Ciopinno shack on the beach.. those were the days.

prime real estate now I'm sure.

my boy friend of sorts attended school and worked at Scripps... boy is he successful still.

I know your neighborhood. When I first moved to San Diego I lived in an apartment at the corner of Nobel and Lebon. I like the area a lot.

How I envy you living there. San Diego is as close to heaven on earth as I have seen.

You just made me look up my old apartment half a block north of Ventura Place on Mission Boulevard. I love satellite view.

Very cool. I have a landmark for finding my bearings (and the former Dewey residence) when coming into the airport, too, but the Broad Street Kroger is a bit less impressive than the Mormon Temple.

Used to live by the Mormon Temple in D.C., just outside of Silver Spring. As 89th and others could attest, it looks freaking weird all lit up in flurorescent green at night. Minas Morgul.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

My niece was married in that Temple, Aqua. Would have been nice to be able to be in attendance, but, well, you know...

Fvckin' Mormons.

Yeah, I think it used to be nobody other than Mormons could even visit the temple, but I hear that's no longer the case.

I have been inside the one by my house. After it was built they offered tours of the inside. Quite impressive.

A bit of a highjack but back in the early '70s when I worked on a seismograph crew we were in Coalville, Utah. One of the guys on the crew was a son of one of the elders or something and he sneaked me into the temple one day while no one was there. I played ragtime on their piano and it was really funny seeing all those stern looking faces looking down at me from the wall.

Yes, San Diego is nice. I have a nephew who lives there and works as a security guard in the nuke plant. His brother works in a motorcycle shop.

you know.... with benefits. :D

he is one of the world's top genetic researchers.. has his own lab at Scripps. We never seriously dated (sex and all was beneath us) but spent many (6) years together, inseparable friends who lived in the same apartment and never dated anyone else (except my gay boyfriend). I met him on my first day of college.. we went to McDonald's together for dinner.

Finally, he said.. 'bird (that was my name back then).... you're just not smart enough to be my wife'... (compared to him I am a total dummyhead). He met and married a woman, a psychiatrist, who has her own eating disorders clinic. kind of broke my heart but not too bad.

I'm happy to be married to my idiosyncratic hubby.

We're still friends.

Real meaning - doesn't get along with anyone so they sent him to solitary.
