Sounds good. Lost major time in Akron, multiple bad accidents and bad roads. Much better now, just had lunch in Youngstown. Hope the rest of the roads are in good shape.
All time spent in Akron is lost. Hope you all had a grand time.

Oh yeah, just got home here. Nineteen is now back at school, and Chris swung over to Hyde Park for a late breakfast and good conversation at the Eveready. Then we drove down to meet Jon at Mike's Diner in Astoria for a small snack and coffee, and even more good conversation. Chris got me over to Laguardia, and the rest is history. A great day!

It was great to see Dewey and Nineteen again and meet Jon. I made it back to Connecticut in record time. :)

Actually, brenda, Chris and Bee Lady are the only TNCR people she's met. She was politely gracious, even if she probably was a little uncomfortable - but she had met Chris before, a number of years ago, so that helped. And of course, her having just moved out of NYC and Chris' great familiarity with the neighborhood she lived in - he actually used to deliver mail there - helped make her click with him as they talked. She's pretty shy until she gets to know someone anyway. But in general, she's very much a product of the social media generation, so she gets "internet friends."

Nineteen is a lovely young lady with a lot of poise. I really enjoyed meeting her again. She was a little girl the last time I met her.

With regard to delivering mail, I worked for the USPS for about 6 months more than 40 years ago. A few years back, when I was tasked with cleaning up some difficult staff issues in one of our offices in NJ, I had a sign on my desk:

I'm a former postal employee. It behooves you to keep me gruntled.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Chris, it would be worth working six months at the USPS just to be able to use that in a sign on your desk in the future. :lol2:

As funny as that is, I could see an overzealous HR department considering it 'threatening'...

It sounds like a good time you had. One of these days I would enjoy meeting some TNCR folk. If anyone's travels takes them in the direction of Northwest Wyoming, Grand Teton or Yellowstone, let me know.

I certainly couldn't get away with it these days but that was during the WorldCom takeover and they didn't have a clue about how to run a company, which became more and more obvious even before the bankruptcy. :)

One of the most striking statements that I have ever heard during a corporate meeting was from our finance VP (a very straight up guy) about Scott Sullivan, the CFO:

Power of authority is corruptive, particularly if you're an a$$hole to start with.

Those were "interesting times" for sure.

Oh yeah...it means big breast. Those Frenchmen were seriously lonely. Of course there was a British ex-patriot named Beaver Dick Leigh who came here and settled down with an Shoshone Indian woman named Jenny. Sadly she died along with all 6 of their children from Tuberculosis brought in by the Hayden Survey party.

I am not making this up. I used to drive a ferry across Jenny Lake and give scenic tours in the evening. Try to talk about Tetons and some guy named Beaver Dick with a straight face. It's not easy.
