So after nearly 2 years off, I'm going to try that whole work thing again.

I won't be working directly for a bank this time, rather I'm joining a consulting firm as a partner, and will work with banking clients (capital markets, actually). The firm is one of the big 4 strategy firms of which one (Bain and Company) has been in the news lately. (I won't be working for Bain, but one of its competitors).

Anyway, I'll be starting right after presidents day.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

What's the significance of the '8.4'?

I bloody hope it's not your tax rate.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

It will be mighty quiet here without your presence during the day, Jon.

Can you set up your little guy with a keyboard? I'd love to hear his sweet voice, even if it was only through typed words. :)

Jon - we need you around here during t3h day to make sure current events threads are opened in a timely fashion. And even when it's a slow news day, you pose interesting questions.

BTW - if you don't mind me asking, have you had an income for the last 2 years, or were you just riding the market wave back up from it's 2008 crash? :)

I haven't had income (well, except investment income), Rachel started working in August, so we've had income since then as a family. But we did go 15 months or so before that living off savings.

Deal!

At least I can teach him to spell Minnesoooooota correctly. His kindergarten teacher will be sooooo impressed.

Then we can practice saying "Ja, you bet'cha!" while we munch on cookies.

I should add this has been in the works for a while - this firm doesn't usually take partners in from the outside, so there was a looooooong vetting process - literally 6 months.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

So, you're going to be destroying companies and putting workers out on the streets? Cool.

1 out of 2, most likely.

I should clarify this firm is a competitor of Bain & Co, the consulting firm, not Bain Capital, the private equity firm that Bain & Co started with Mitt at the helm.

A blatant attempt to prop up Mr. Obama's employment numbers in an election year.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

One can always hope, perhaps an even more obscene attempt to prop up Mr. Obama's re-election war chest will follow soon enough.

Congratulations, Jon! What's the commute like, will you take the subway to work?
