Not just "Fine"...

HOLY CARP!!!
... but "Very Fine" - just got the grade for my final paper in "Pastor as Theologian," a class geared at both sharpening one's academic theological chops, both traditional and current; as well as making the theory meet the road in one's own personal theology within the actual, pastoral, context. Woo Hoo! :woot:

The assignment for the final paper was to explain your own personal theology of what the gospel really is/means - what exactly is its "good news," and how does that actually play out in our current existence? And if the gospel is "good news," what exactly is the "bad news"? What's the essence, the basic problem with the world, and how does the "good news" actually offer any real remedy to that "bad news?" And to do that in a plain, easily understood way, without falling into theological doublespeak, cliches or ambiguously defined terms, and not just parroting what you're "supposed" to say, but what is the very core personal theology from which the rest of your pastoral identity flows. Or, as the Lutherans in the room might say, a "Here I stand" paper.

What's the essence, the basic problem with the world

republicans or democrats?
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

It's actually funny when I read it, how much it reflects study, thoughts, conversations, and the occasional battle, honed in the classroom, in the parish, and here - including fore-runner "heres" to this "here."

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.
