http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/paulonomics-ron-paul-plans-taxes-spending-social-security-142130626.html 1. Eliminating 5 Cabinet departments but says nothing of how he intends to continue to perform some of their critical functions. 2. Scrap the TSA - ok, I'm cool with that. 3. Lowering corporate tax rate from 35% to 15% - bad timing for this right now Dr. Paul. 4. Eliminate capital gains tax - Really? totally eliminate? again, bad time to even talk about letting Wall Street pukes get even richer sitting on their asses. 5. Remove the only financial regulation there is on Wall Street - OMG 6. Social Security - I like the concept, but the devil's in the details, none of which he provides. But he sure seems like a nice guy. I really felt sorry for him in that Sasha Baren Cohen movie that they punked him on. |

The US currently has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. If Paul coupled lowering the tax rate with an elimination of the tax breaks and subsidies that many corporations now enjoy, this could result in increased fairness and revenue. Again, if you could couple a reduction of the capital gains tax with eliminating the loophole that allows the Wall Street pukes to claim their compensation as capital gains, you would see increased revenue, at least from said pukes. That said, the US long term capital gains tax is already pretty darn low. Overall, Paul trusts the free market more than I do. |

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis

His agenda does seem to be more of a religious belief than a set of policies. |

BTW, my thesis advisor has a very long libertarian streak. HE thinks Paul's notion of economics is just plain nuts. |

Regardless of what he would like to do if he were able to dictate, there are serious limits to what he could actually put into effect. Where he would have a fairly free hand is in foreign policy, and that is what scares me the most. |

Yes. There is a long way to go but I wouldn't rule out Mr. Paul. I think I could vote for him, but wouldn't be surprised if I never get the chance. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
