God Help Us Win The Football Game

I get a laugh when NFL players ask God to help them win the football game.

Hey, if God is Perfect, He is not going to side with any team and would rather see the better team win!

If you want to win, go earn the win as a team. Do it yourselves!

HOLY CARP!!!
I once saw a bumper sticker, "God Bless America".

I once heard someone say, "God Bless You".

People get to order God around so they can get their way, kind like THEY are the God, calling the shots.

Dewey, could you post a 12" explanation?

God has other things to worry about than a football game.

God doesn't have anything to worry about.

He's God.

Yes, everyone knows God is a baseball fan.

I think He deals with NFL requests from time to time. Obviously He likes Mr. Tebow.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
So if you don't like praying over football, dont. But it's nobody's business if someone else does.

If a player had a ritual or a lucky jockstrap that would be considered colorful. But when it is Christian, if it is sincere faith, somehow it becomes unpalatable.

Yes, everyone knows God is a baseball fan.
That would certainly explain a great deal.

I have to admit if you're going to start listing what's stupid about football, Christian faith comes in pretty low down the list

The thing is, I played quite a lot of football at a lot of different
levels and ages. I never, ever heard a player or team pray to win. I've heard them ask God to keep them and their team mates safe. Or to help them play their best. or in quite a few cases, ask God to protect the other team. I would bet that Mr Teebow does the same. When we prayed after a game it was thanks for keeping us strong, win or lose.
