Here's a serious answer that I'm guessing is pretty much the same answer any of us would give. My wife is smarter than me about some things and dumber about others. She knows way more about virtually all things medical. She understands most human interactions far better than I do on an intuitive level. Where I've got an edge in this category is from my experience in the work force and from my specific life experiences that I've been through that she hasn't. I do better at evaluating specific scenarios and working towards a desired outcome BUT, she will often hit upon the same course of action intuitively. She knows more about chemistry, and mammalian biology. I know more about math and pretty much any engineering discipline. This list can go on forever IMO. And also IMO this type of list will be true for virtually any two humans on the planet. |

She is smarter, quicker thinking, more able to focus. However, sometimes she thinks she said stuff she only heard in her head. I have much more generalized knowledge in my head and I am better at communication (with everyone but her). This morning we had a long discussion about her brother and sister and it took us a long time to figure out that I didn't have a critical piece of info that was needed to understand (and agree with her). She is not sure if she forgot to mention it at the start of the story and I am not sure if it didn't register with me when she said it. I was standing in the shower, and our ears are getting older so that is not the best time for clear communication (body language and facial expressions would have perhaps helped). |

My first reaction was 'now what possible payoff could there be to answer that question?'. |

This thread begs the question, Wouldn't the term "Other" be more politically correct than Significant Other? |

By the slippery slope argument so beloved of posters here, this would inevitably lead to them next being described as 'Insignificant Other', which would itself inevitably lead to much pain. |
