I really don't know anything about whiskey, but we're staying across the street from this place -- http://www.albannach.co.uk/ The ginormous wall of whiskeys and white antler chandeliers are obvious from the outside. I just found out they offer a 90 minute whisky masterclass the first two Tuesdays of the month. That sounds cool, although I think we'll be traveling elsewhere next week. Their vaults look awesome. ![]() |

Interesting restaurant. Great choice of location to stay by the way, within walking distance of much of London's tourist attractions, and buses on the doorstep for St Pauls etc. Incidentally, today is the last day to see a bendy-bus. And you've got the best weather! I saw the Shard for the first time yesterday (look S.E. from a height and you can't miss it), and today we're going to a friends do at a chinese restaurant boat in Regents Park, the Feng Shang Princess, http://www.fengshang.co.uk/. I've heard Paul McCartney eats there. London is full of interest. |

I'm not much of a whiskey man myself. It seems what the Brits call whiskey to me taste's like good scorch. I have a bottle of pretty good Irish whiskey and it's the same as scotch. I await now D'Oh entering and tearing me a new Rectum. |

Whiskey = Irish, or that American stuff. Whisky = Scotch Currently, I'm drinking cognac. It seems a bit cheaper than Scotch for roughly equivalent quality. Vive la France, I always say. |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead

Oh, yes, as I think all know I love cognac. Unfortunately it does not love me. Perhaps the fact that I normally pull it out after a fine dinner with significant wine contributes to that. Going to a single barrel bourbon tasting tomorrow night. Apparently we will help select the right barrel for a private bottling. Should be interesting. |

I've done that a couple of times. It's a very effective way of getting rid of unwanted dinner guests. |

On a related note, last night I tried Maker's Mark for the first time - on JB's recommendation. I believe I have a new favorite!

Have you tried Eagle Rare? I got that after IT recommended it. Extremely nice, particularly for the price. |
