Steve Jobs will be buried right in the center. It's mostly just a massive tomb. |

There's no bloody road leading there. Does everybody have to live there, like the Moonies? |

Don't talk to me about the Moonies. I encountered them before they were big. Their caravan of vans pulled into my freeway gas station when I was 18. I had like 150 Korean missionaries running around babbling at me in Korean while I tried to get their 30 or so vans filled up. I think Moon was with them, because this was 1974. |

I know me. I'd be wandering around in complete frustration, looking for the front door. Then I'd find it, and spend the rest of my day wandering around trying to find my car. It does look somewhat like a huge halo though, doesn't it? Edited by Rainman, Dec 7 2011, 09:27 PM.

Remember their address is '1 infinite loop' or something. I'm sure the building design is a reference to that. |

i love it.. why would you make fun of a building with real trees in the center? I suppose cross ventilation would never be a problem or asset because it will be sealed from the elements. I'll be posting a pic of the new btw. i played a trick on some Moonies once. I was the only one that laughed but it was soooo funny. |

Because it's stupid. How do you get from one side of the "building" to the other? Doesn't look like there's a walkway. Why are the trees so amazing? |

There is a network of tunnels that connect the the different areas. You really think the people at Apple were so stupid that they designed a building that you had to go half way around or more to get to the other side? |

Just finished the Steve Jobs book. Near the end they mention the thought process behind this building. Apparently when the plans were finalized at first, Jobs showed the rendering to his son who mentioned that it looked like, well, a piece of the male anatomy. Jobs didn't agree at first, but then admitted once you see it in that angle, you'll always see it that way, so he asked the architects to completely re-do it, which resulted in the design you now see. Apparently thought went into everything (shocker) ...whether windows could open/close, moving offices away from the windows so that the long corridors would be full of sunlight, etc. I *think* this new building is on the land where HP's headquarters used to be. HP was a company Steve Jobs strongly admired, especially growing up, so he wanted to use that land once Apple re-did their headquarters. I think he also plans on planting a bunch of apricot trees, which used to be more common in the area when he was growing up. Also, here's a video of Jobs pitching the plans to the city council. This video is from this past Edited by The 89th Key, Dec 8 2011, 09:37 AM.
