How long would a dealer keep a tier one piano on the floor/in stock? Before I left Michigan, the local Shigeru Kawai dealer had a III (I think) that I almost pulled the trigger on. I decided not to, for various reasons, but I've never forgotten that particular piano. What are the chances he still may have it? |

If Shigeru Kawai's ads are to be believed it shouldn't mater. Their claim is that after it's delivered Kawai Tech's visit your home and do wondrous things to it. So that it will be as near to perfect as a stringed instrument could be. If true the one on the floor would be irrelevant. Now I am being a little snarky, but that is what they claim. Love to hear if it's true. |

LD, I don't. I didn't even look. Vince, good point. Seems like piano dealers in DFW are dropping like flies. The Kawai dealer I was referred to by Kawai last year isn't it business anymore. The sites I have bookmarked for other dealers are gone or state going out of business or moving. The only brands I can readily find are Yamaha and Steinway.

Mmmmmmm, pie!

Plus, Kawai doesn't build one of those questionable pianos that have to be specially seasoned for different markets. Theirs are seasoned for a *world* market. Says so right in their brochures..... ![]() Unless of course, a competitor has a used one to sell, and then it's seasoning is wrong.. I always wondered if that special tech carried a bottle of seasoning with him just in case.. |

Patty - to answer your question, a Tier 1 piano can stay on the floor a good long time. Depending on the brand, availability, turns, and whether the dealer owns it or is flooring it, the piano could sit for a very short period of time, or a long time, like several years. |

Thanks, KB. I've almost picked up the phones several times to call them. |
