So I've been emailing with a fellow in England about tea kettles his firm makes. Evidently, the kettles are not currently available in the US, but a shipment is supposed to be sent sometime soon. I've asked him for more info, and I've made it known that I wish to purchase one, either in the US, or directly from their firm.

His name is Graham Tweed. Gotta love that. How perfect. :)

HOLY CARP!!!
Yep!

I just ordered a pair of Continental GP4000s 700x25c road bike tires from France. I got both tires shipped to my door for $82.00. FOR THE PAIR!!!

If I drive to the nearest bike shop to order them they are $78.00 + Tax for one tire! If I drive to Madison to pick up a pair at a bike shop they are $72.50 + Tax for one tire!

HTH can the French afford to make a profit and ship them across the Atlantic? Are the local bike shops just greedy???

Graham Tweed sells tea kettles? That's fantastic. Wonder what his smile's like....

I picture Nigel Pinchley, but with a Tweed jacket, naturally.Posted Image

I know a Nigel and a Graham. Both are stereotypical Englishmen, but in different ways.

:lol2: Well, I will continue to address him as Mr. Tweed, if only because it makes me smile.

Oh man, I'd have a lot of fun with that, too.

I married a Graham. It's two syllables, not Graaaaaaahm. Amazing how many people screw that up. Just a head's up if you should talk in person. :)

Do you pronounce the 'H'?

The one I know (and others that have been spoken of) are said "GrAy-um" in the same way as the 'ham' in "Buckingham Palace".
And how are you today?

In my mind, it would only ever be pronounced as two syllables. Here's the story of why I have a distinct pronunciation for that name.

Several generations ago, my relatives included a family of Grahams, most definitely with two syllables. The Grahams married the Twentymens, twice. I descended from the ones who continued the line under the Twentymen surname. Descending from the other pairing, a Graham girl married a Mayo, Dr. Charlie. Edith Graham Mayo was my grandmother's aunt. They just called her Aunt Edith, even though she was in a realm far from theirs. Grandma used to work at the Mayo mansion when they had events and needed extra help in the kitchen. Grandma also used to mind one of the Mayo daughters who was very young during that time.

You can see which side of the tracks I come from, the kitchen help side.

And now you know some trivia of my family.
