I just read that Yamaha bought Boesendorfer back in 2007. Where the heck have I been?

Sad in a way but understandable. Thoughts?

Completely non-news. Strictly a financial arrangement, with some distribution changes. Overall, no changes in the pianos themselves or at the factory. It's been the same personnel, suppliers, designs, etc...
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Weren't they going to change their name to Boesendamaha?

Just be thankful it wasn't bought out by Gibson.

Groan.

Still, Gibson just finished the process begun more than 2 decades ago. True, they finished it in grand fashion (The Hummer will go down in infamy), but they weren't the cause of all the problems originally.

I don't know anything about Hummers, but Gibson QC/QA ruined "Dobro" resonator guitars when it bought out OMI in the mid 90's.

I thought you were referring to Gibson's purchase of Baldwin, and their unveiling at NAMM of this wondrous piece of artwork

On call last night.
Busy as hell all day and all evening long.
Finally settled down at about 8:30.
Up at 1 with OB, couldn't get to sleep again.
Now, I won't be able to nap today with that image in my head.

Thanks, thanks a hell of a lot.

Patty: If it's any consolation, Bösendorfer hasn't been "family owned" in a long, long time.

Before Yamaha they were owned by the Bank of Austria.

Schimmel's had a financial arrangement with Yamaha for decades (or did at least until several years ago - not sure how it stands now).
