HOLY CARP!!!
sounds like quite the windstorm you guys had; hope you're ok. I saw pictures of a big truck blown over on the highway, windows blown out of buildings, etc. Freaky.

Yes. Very much so.

I mentioned to my husband of the wind, that I thought I could feel it moving against our roof. Then I had to drive the kid downtown. It was serious down there. Lots of glass, debris, trees. They police/fire depts. even had to call in reinforcements to aid with traffic control ... part of a 'Disaster Plan' .. so they had bylaw officers, the dog catcher trucks, anyone with a whirling flashy light, blocking access to the city core. I got in & out using a parking lot and alley. But I had to rescue the kid later by walking in & out of downtown. That was no party. The winds were up to 110 kms down there, but soared to a whopping 144 kms outside the city. The most serious was a prairie fire outside Lethbridge .. I heard 8 miles wide. That's pretty big. I saw this video of an airplane landing at the airport : http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/11/27/calgary-windstorm-lufthansa-landing-video_n_1115610.html I'm glad I wasn't on this plane.
All is fine now though. They opened up downtown around 4 a.m. . This should cost our city millions. Wonder how they'll afford snow removal after this glitch in our weather? On the upside was the temp increase with the chinook. 15 C. degrees yesterday. Pretty mild for December. But this won't last. Lots of migraines with these temperature shifts. I have one now.

I am the grey one
That video reminds me of a plane I was on landing in Casper, WY. I was looking down the runway as we were landing he had it yawed so far pretty much like you see in the video.

No fun to be on those landings. The ones where the passengers applaud.

blondie, wow, you had it bad. I hope your home wasn't damaged, such as the roofing, etc. Glad you and your son made it home alright.

Thanks. We'll do okay.
More of the same is forecasted for Weds. Honestly, this was bad but could've been worse. At least this was warm wind. I get real depressed when it's -35 C. and this happens. And it likely will come February. Not many reporters willing to stand outside on camera in those conditions. So no news of it then.
