I don't have a problem, if the place has unique architecture, which New Orleans does. Set your architectural code and motor on.

I do have a problem with hizzoner leaning on them after the fact.

I agree with both statements.

What makes this particular case annoying though, is that the new building doesn't have any features that would be considered unique to NO or anywhere else. It's like every other strip mall building built nationwide in the last 15 years and the reason they all look like that is because planners like them.

I'd rather see them zone for use (no smelters next to nursery schools, for example) and allow the owners to choose their own style. I'm surprised to see that NO doesn't do it that way.
