HOLY CARP!!!
I'm not much of a picture taker but here are some pics I took or that were taken with my iPhone camera:

Took a river tour, and saw some monkeys in the trees:

A lower primate with a monkey on his back:

Raw chicken makes crocodiles come to you:

Posted Image

Not sure why those things are supposed to be scary. They look cuddly to me:

Posted Image

Saw another one on the riverbank, not 100 feet from where some folk were fishing from the shore. I'm sure it's not uncommon for people fishing that river to step around crocs.

Posted Image

Saw a dead monkey on a road close to coco beach. It was under some power lines, so we figure that might have been how it died.

Posted Image

Some beautiful scenery on the way to zip lining:

From my horse Pinto's back:

My nephew caught a 30 pound Grouper, which I didn't get a pic of.. till it was cooked. It was delicious!

Awesome. Where did you guys stay? We're considering a trip there early next year.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

At a resort called Riu Guanacaste. But I wouldn't recommend it unless you like free bad food and free bad alcohol and to be surrounded by sort of a 20 something party culture. We met a very good tour guide there who told us that a condo could have been rented for 2k for a week including a full time cook and maid, so that would have been a better choice.

Here's Vic's website. He appears to know pretty much everybody in costa Rica, and he really does care about showing people a good time. He's one of those super competent guys who seems to know how to do everything. He gave us lots of personal attention since we were a big group, though smaller groups might not deal directly with him. But he would be a perfect resource if you're planning a trip and have some ideas about what you want to do.

Careful where you go zip lining, not all zip lines are created equal and ours sucked. I have to assume the awesome experiences people can't stop talking about are with other zip line places.

I'm sure they do, but for this trip it looks like they had to settle for Horace.

fun pictures, thanks Horace. Love those happy smiley faces, and yeah, the scenery is pretty cool too. The monkey on your back shot is a keeper.

Was it super humid there?

Extremely! It was sort of interesting, if you spilled a few drops of water on your shirt, they'd just stay there for hours. Nothing air dried.

Great pics. Sorry things weren't as good as they could have been. I guess that's what you sacrifice when taking a vacation with a bunch of other people - being able to really plan things out to your own specs. Here's my Costa Rica monkey encounter. This little gal was very sweet and kind of glommed onto me. Posted Image
This was from a rescue shelter across the bay from the Osa Peninsula. We stayed in a really wonderful eco lodge there. It was quite an experience getting there, between a puddle jumping plane landing on an airstrip with chickens running around to a hour long drive bouncing in the back of a Rover on the most pot-holed road I've ever experienced. Once there, though it was truly heaven.
