Ok, so somebody on Craigslist had something I want. And a really good deal on it. I emailed them and we made arrangements to meet this evening. Now another person has the same item up, same price, they are closer, and they are including $40 worth of extra accessories. Is it wrong to cancel the previous arrangement? What would you do? |
| The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it. | |

Back out, saying that you changed your mind (well, you did, didn't you?). Most sellers would accept that. There's no deal until you show up at the door. I can't tell you the number of people who were no-shows when I was selling. Give them the courtesy of an email, but you're not obligated. |

HOLY CARP!!!

Go for the closer deal. You have no personal relationship with the other seller. I'm very clear on Craigslist -- first with the cash gets it, I hold nothing for no one. They can tell me when they plan to come by so I make sure I'm home, but I always tell them to call first in case someone shows up before them with the cash. I only hold the item if someone is in the car on their way with an ETA. I can't count the number of people who say they'll come over at a certain time and never show. |

I agree with what has been said here, when it comes to craigslist etiquette, clear and prompt communication trumps all. |

Well don't leave us hanging, where should we hire them? |

The other day I bought a corner Roman Jacuzzi Tub off Craig's List. I don't need it, but the deal was too good. It was installed in a new luxury condo, the guy who bought the condo had some things changed before he moved in - one being that he had a tile company rework the bathroom, removing the Roman tub to make room for a fancy tile shower. The tile guy asked him what he wanted done with the 3,000 dollars worth of brand new Jacuzzi tub and fixtures, and the guy said "throw it out, I don't want it." So the guy put it on Craig's list, and I bought it for 100 bucks. |

No, no, no! Bathtub? Larry? Woman? Those things don't belong in the same sentence, if you're the woman. |
