I just got 3G 614kps down, 446kps up at home on my crappy Motorola Droid X.

Have I mentioned that I hate this phone and have ever since I got it as a replacement to my beloved HTC Incredible? :veryangry:

I was thinking that, and was, for a moment, impressed with AT&T.

Now, not so much.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

How much do you get when you go via 3G instead of WiFi, then?

5.04Mbps download, 0.99Mbps upload.

Note the upload speed is superior to my wifi (cable modem).

5M is not bad for a phone.

iPhone still stuck at cellular 3G (HSPA on AT&T, EVDO on Verizon). Don't know when it will catch up to cellular 4G (LTE on Verizon and AT&T), may be Apple Inc. is reserving the "iPhone 5" moniker for that.

(T-Mobile likes to call their HSPA+ "4G," and when it looked like AT&T was going to buy T-Mobile, AT&T might also go along with calling HSPA+ "4G." Not much of a point for that now.)

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I dunno but I downloaded and listened to some French lessons while cruising the PA turnpike earlier today.

Love the iPhone for that. I could stare at cows in French.

Not bad at all, considering what internet speeds were just a decade ago!

Odd - my 3G (full signal) was giving me a VERY slow 60 kbps whereas my upload was giving me 500 kbps. Then wifi had 6 mbps download and a 12 mbps upload. Seems unlikely, no?

I'm lucky if I get 200kps. Usually it's 100-150 and mind you that is NOT at my place; there is no interwebs there. I have to hump it into town to get a connection.

Living here has seriously altered my view of amenities that I used to take for granted.

I remember when you had to call 1-888 numbers for that kind of thing.

Pffft she's got it worse than me that's for sure.

What other amenities, Aqua?

Heaters and A/C.

Having a car.

Dryers. It rained for a whole week here, so I didn't do any laundry. I still had some out on the line when the first drizzles came down, and out on the line they sat for a week, because it was so cold it'd be pointless to try to let them air-dry in the house. That stuff is faded now.

Microwaves and coffee makers.

Some other stuff.

Interesting.

What about waffle makers in the hotels? You know, the ones that you can flip over? Bet they don't have those yet.

And magnetic paper clip holders? Those would be in the house of someone who owns a dryer.

Well it's not that they don't have that stuff here, just that generally speaking there aren't as many appliances and devices in the average home than in the U.S. My place is kind of an extreme example, but even so, I'd say at the average household there's slightly less stuff.

Definitely less stuff when you get way out to buggery.

I was just jokin' about many of the strange appliances we have.

There is an upside to having less of that stuff to deal with.

Of course you're probably missing your individual bedside coffee mug warmer.
