Put the kettle on the hob

When you put your kettle on the hob, if you do, what kind is it? I'm looking for a new tea kettle to use on the new gas range. We'll use it at least once a day for coffee, and often again in the day for tea. It needs to be good quality, have a whistle feature, and look good.

I'd love one of these:

HOLY CARP!!!
That's pretty and I'm sure would fit with your kitchen.

I live near an IKEA + I'm Swedish = I have an IKEA kettle on my hob.

Same goes for my plates, glassware. The silverware though is antique Art Deco -- IT's obviously.

MS, I bet yours is perfect in style for your kitchen. I can picture it suiting you to a T. That's my goal, too, to find one that suits me. Usually, I am quite relaxed about such things, but I'm feeling rather fussy about this kettle thing.

I have one that is meant to look like a golf ball. I got it at Goodwill for $4. So....can't really help. I use it almost every day and it's held up just fine. I like kettles. :)
And how are you today?

I have something close to MS's; but it's red. A bargain kettle from Winners, my shopping place of choice for stuff like that.

What I would really like to find is a cast iron kettle, for my wood stove. Have not found the perfect thing, yet. We always have a pot of water on it, to keep moisture in the air, but would love to have something that looks good, and could make that cup of tea when the power goes out.

Mine is very simple, it looks like this except the kettle part is white. I've had it for a dozen years. Its one of the few things i owned before I met Rachel that met with her approval.

I like our teakettle which is a bit of a cross between Brenda's and jon's.. What i don't like it that I keep it on the stove in the winter and it picks up splatter. (and I'm not going to get one of those splatter covers... i'd rather wash the easy to clean teakettle).

Any way, keep that in mind... the splatters are hard to remove after a while.. (i use easy-off and a scrub brush..... remember i cook with 2 teenage boy wannabee chefs).

I have tried putting the kettle in a safe location.. but no, the boys have to have tea too.

i really DO like the idea of a wooden handle Brenda.. my handle, like jon's, is made of metal and is too hot to pick up without a hotpad or teatowel.

i find copper very hard to maintain (hi Copper).. but you might enjoy the
polishing needed to keep it looking spit spot.
it behooves me to behold

:hat: Well, man taste does not equal woman taste in some things.

I found your line very funny though. :lol2:

I like kettles, too. I don't know why I like them so much. Hearth and home kind of thing maybe?

I hear ya on the splatter thing. I've got a spot for the kettle to sit off the stove while not in use.

The wooden handle is very nice to keep me from burning my hands, which I am prone to do (hush, Mik!), and it looks nice, too.

I love the look of the copper, and a kettle needs regular cleaning anyway at our house, so the copper does not intimidate me for upkeep. When something gets used every day, and multiple times per day, it's a pleasure to have it be a thing of beauty as well as function.

I also love the vintage styling of this particular one. I wish it wasn't so pricey, but I may go for it anyway. It reminds me of that whole phrase of "putting the kettle on the hob," which we actually say at our house. :lol2:

Hearth and home kind of thing maybe?
I think that's probably what it is. Comfort.
And how are you today?
