The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

HOLY CARP!!!
The usual roast turkey (brined), caramelized shallot mashed potatoes, sage and onion stuffing, roasted asparagus with lemon and olive oil, some kind of sweet potato dish someone is bringing, rolls, apple and cranberry galettes and pumpkin pies. New this year are recipes I'm trying for cranberry sauce and a shallot sherry gravy. I made the cranberry sauce tonight -- delicious!

2 shallots, finely diced
1 tsp. finely chopped fresh thyme
3 Tbs. all-purpose flour
2 cups turkey stock, lightly salted, or low-sodium chicken broth
1 Tbs. chicken demi-glace <--- didn't have
2 Tbs. dry sherry
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

apple
one of the angels
the marshmallows go on the sweet potatoes Jane. There are a host of recipes that due to the lack of interesting ingredients available at the local grocer's, span generations with mediocrity.

marshmallows.. also appearing in the jello desserts
it behooves me to behold

ditto. can't imagine why anyone would want to add gooey sweetness to a savoury dish, esp. something that's already sweet, like sweet potatoes. makes my teeth hurt to even think about.

Amen, bach. Nouveau gives real Beaujolais, which is delicious, a bad name.

Never had the pear eau du vie. Sounds delicious. Not a big fan of grappa.

Its FRIGGIN AWESOME by the way. Ask Sue. :)
It really is. And it looks so wonderful on the plate. It's a winner winner dinner. I think I'll make it for New Years, with some sort of lamb again.
