In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

many professionals and, for want of a better term, nerds, were turned off by the Luna theme, with its detractors dismissing Windows XP as a Fisher-Price operating system.

First thing I did when I started using XP, was to turn all that crap off. Same thing on my laptop running Vista. It really did make it look Mickey Mouse.

I usually customize my new Windows systems, be they XP or Vista or 7, to take on the "Windows Classic" theme and go from there. :D

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I always preferred "classic theme" myself, with classic start menu and all. Windows 2000 and Windows XP were the best! Windows 98SE was good to me too though. Never used Vista, and Windows ME lasted for less than a day for me (used it for all of maybe three hours before reformatting and going back to 98SE). My current laptop runs Windows 7 and its alright, though I still can't run some of my old programs that ran perfectly under XP (even with compatibility options enabled), and therefore still have my old laptop with XP for those programs. I haven't used Ubuntu in a while, mainly because I've been too lazy to repartition my Harddrive and install it.

Very interesting article. I don't think XP will be fully dead for a loooong time, even after support ends for it.

Think about it. 10 years with XP and they're still issuing security patches.

Just looked at some of the comments and followed a couple of wikipedia links to XP and 2000. Seeing the screen shots of 2000 in particular is making me miss the old look of windows. lol

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I had windows 3.1 and preferred MS DOS! Lol! Though minesweeper was THE awesome. Haven't played it in a long time though it still comes standard with windows I believe. Windows 2000 had a pinball game that was very addictive too!

Don't laugh. i will be buying a refurbished XP laptop this week. Mine finally died and I need it to run conversion software for my business. Won't run on 7.

May I ask why you choose to buy refurbished XP laptop instead of running XP in a virtual machine?

Somone still has a PC?

92% of someones it turns out, and ~99.9% if we limit that to Enterprise level usage.
