My father was fond of pointing out that the only thing your "culture" or "heritage" was good for was to assist you in making the decision as to what to have for Christmas dinner, if you had Christmas dinner at all.

Other than that it was mostly an excuse to start a fight.

After all, says Williams, “Nobody wants to dress up as Thurgood Marshall, W.E.B. DuBois, or Barack Obama.”

Oh for ****'s sake. It's because Thurgood Marshall, W.E.B. DuBois, and Barack Obama are neither slutty nor badass enough to warrant interest from Halloween partygoers. So what.

-AL, who actually dressed up as Thurgood Marshall once. Seriously.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Years ago, one of the hospitals I worked at encouraged the staff to dress in costume for Halloween.

One year I died some scrubs black and went as a hospital ninja, complete with scalpels (blunted) and "throwing syringes".
