Mik, you might want to take a look at #4 and consider an edit.
Too late! I've already caught Mik, or should I say Herr Goebbels, in his web of Germanic deceipt. I'm fully expecting the knock at the door at 3am tomorrow before I'm carted off to New Jersey or somewhere equally hideous.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Of course, if you look at how they list his charities, it really spells out political donations...

I can't figure out why you would take cheap shots at his family, Kathy. Care to defend that?
Because they look kind of miserable. This model, picture perfect wife, smiling into the camera, looking oblivious of the kids surrounding her who don't look very happy. Body language can tell a lot. It just underscores the fact that all the money in the world does not happiness make.

In other words you just made it up out of whole cloth because it suits your worldview.

Nope. I based it on how they look to me. The two little girls with the circles under their eyes look unhealthy. The teenagers in the family photo look absolutely PO'd. You may have another opinion, but that's mine. It's also not uncommon that kids from extreme wealth end up being really screwed up. Unless the parents are exceptional, that sort of privilege is not particularly healthy.

Really? I'll bet that you can't find any statistical basis for a kid's family's wealth being negatively correlated with any quantifiable measure of adult success for those kids, no matter how far up the wealth scale you go.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

What you are likely to find is a quantifiable increase in negative gossip.

I know lots of sullen teenagers from all economic strata.

I'll bet you do too.

That's why opinionated, ideologically constipated, leftwing nutjobs shouldn't try to think.

The two little girls with circles under their eyes look BLONDE. Obviously you haven't been around many blondes, but it doesn't take much for a naturally blonde headed kid to get circles under their eyes. They look like they might be sleepy, they look like they might have an attitude, but they don't look unhealthy. Both of my kids are blondes, their mother is a blonde. Both of my kids would have those same circles under their eyes about half the time they were growing up.

Teenagers typically look pissed off. Their f*cking teenagers.

As for your comment about kids from extreme wealth ending up screwed up and privilege not being healthy, let me give you a few more examples of that kind of comment:

1. Black people all love watermelon.
2. The reason black people have a higher rate of hypertension is because of all that fried chicken they eat.

No, there's nothing wrong with those children, and there's no way you can justify your attack on them other than the fact that you are stupid.

I find this statement fascinating on so many levels:

Quote:

People like this, imo, are on par with the Gaddafis of the world

So you are saying that you would approve of th same type of actions being taken against the Siegels as Gaddafi?

I also find it fascinating how Gaddafi is now being put onto the same scale as Hitler and Stalin. Gaddafi was nowhere near the same level, hell, Gaddafi was nowhere near the same level as Saddam Hussein, but that doesn't fit your narrative because Boooooooosh took out Hussein (whose regime posed actual security threats to the US and our direct interests), with full Congressional approval and a coalition of around 30 nations whereas Obama committed our troops without Congressional approval or even consultation to the task of removing Gaddafi without much research into who exactly these rebels were, or even having a clear goal.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad that Gaddafi has been removed from power, but this attempt to elevate him to being the 3rd most evil man in history is transparent and obnoxious.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I am trying to imagine kathy's idea of fettered capitalism and it is a scary thought indeed.

kids from extreme wealth end up being really screwed up.

So, you wouldn't, for example, let a child be adopted by someone who had too much money.

This would be in the child's best interest.

This would of course include the Obamas.

OMG, you guys are great extrapolators - Not! No, what you really remind me of is the game where one person whispers something to the person next to him, and he in turn whispers to the next in line and before you know, you have rumor mongering to the nth degree.

I see in the photo what I see. If you don't see it, well, God bless you. We are different.
And fwiw, I raised 3 pretty damn cool, smart and productive kids. I also worked for years as a child advocate in the courts. Not to brag or anything, but I have a pretty damn good sense of when a kid is happy and healthy or not. In fact, it's usually pretty obvious to me. Granted, this was just a photo. But, has that stopped a lot of you from criticizing people in photos. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking Chelsea Clinton. Get off your f'n high horses. Silly people.

OMG,

I just want to be clear - you said the tipoff is too much money.

Now you backed off that - OK.

So the way to tell if a teenager is all messed up is if they look like they have a bad attitude or maybe stayed up too late.

The parents money doesn't matter so much - it's that look.
