Some of them are falling on hard times. Poor David Siegel's wife had tears in her eyes when telling the WSJ reporter how she's not able to complete her 90,000 sf dream home, Versailles in Florida with 7,200 sf ballroom. It's on the market for $75 million - boohoo.

As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

But "me", as I pointed out yesterday, is a moving target.*

Today's "you" becomes tomorrow's "me".

*Disclaimer: Any reference to "target" or other such inflammatory language is purely rhetorical, and not intended to be an incitement to any kind of violence.

Very, very interesting article. If anyone just read the first few paragraphs I would recommend a much closer reading. I am not about to shed tears for the wealthy, but there is some very interesting analysis of their wealth, why they have it and how they can lose it (or much of it). It does give lie to the idea that the 1% are a stable bunch of old-monied fat cats smoking cigars in a club room while they figure out better ways of screwing the peasants.

She has her choice of luxurious places to sleep. She receives these accommodations free. All of her costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day. There's a political correctness amongst conservatives that seems to stop them from saying 'what a greedy f*cking tasteless bastard' however much the evidence is staring them in the face.

Well I'll say it for them. What a greedy f*cking tasteless bastard.

Did the man earn the money legally? If he did, then he can do whatever he wants to with it. If he wants to build a 90,000 square foot house, that's his business. If he wants to use it to start a fire, that's his business. It's his money.

What is it about liberals that makes them think they are entitled to other peoples' stuff...

Oh - I remember now..... it's that mental disease.....

I feel the same way about the smeggy people occupying Wall Street.

Why isn't it a good idea? It's his money. If you don't like his house, don't visit it.

I think spending money on swimming pools in the back yard is just as tacky. People all around Kathyk are having trouble paying their mortgage, and there she is wasting all that money digging a hole in the ground to fill with water.

It's all relative - no matter what level you start at, when you start ridiculing and "hating" people for how they spend their money, or for having the money to spend, there are people further down the ladder who look at you (the generic "you") and see just as much waste and excess.

Something you will never read about Joe Biden's house:

Quote:

Versailles was supposed to be done by now. The Siegels were supposed to be living their dream life—throwing charity balls

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

No, of course not.

I wish someone on the right would actually admit the guy's a motherf*cker. They're all over the stinky people on Wall Street who are simply exercising their rights to be revolting. This guy's just as bad.

Louis XVI was quite within his legal rights, too for all the good it did him.

It's kind of hard to throw balls if you don't have a ballroom. Oth, it's kind of unnecessary to have a ballroom to be charitable.

Kinkaid, I found the same point very interesting.

As to my pool shed, LD, you're right. I count my blessings every day, and if I ever lost all of my material wealth, I would hope to heck I wouldn't be blubbering about it for the very reason you raise, but appreciating what I have: my family, my friends, my health - that's really all that's important when it comes right down to it.

Speaking of greed. There's a house being built about seven doors down from me that comes in somewhere over 12,000 square feet (not counting the six garage doors). It has been under construction now for well over a year and it's a monstrosity made largely of stone.

Now, you and others on the left, can demagogue this 1% and call them greedy until you're blue in the face. All I know is as I've driven past this house every day over the past year I've seen a tremendous number of people working day in and day out (and sometimes on Sunday) to build this thing. Carpenters, plumbers, concrete finishers, stonemasons, electricians, roofers, etc. Just today I saw an alarm company there installing burglar alarms

Is the guy that owns this house extremely wealthy? No doubt about it.

Is he also creating wealth for a large number of others who wouldn't have had as much money had he not built this house? Damn right.

I'm not against exorbitant tax rates for the wealthy because I have sympathy for them. I oppose them because it hurts the rest of working America when the government takes money from those who create jobs and gives it to those who don't.

1) How do you know that the money they receive from working there isn't a drop in the bucket when compared to the workers' cost of living?
2) The job's temporary.
3) How do you know none of the crew employed were illegals?

That's interesting. Do you also shrug off the other capital vices such as wrath, sloth and lust or do you just like to cherry-pick what you like and what you don't?

Most of the religious discussions here appear to be about other people's sex lives when it comes to sin. Odd that we should leave the greedy f*ckers and slothful layabouts out of these high-minded discussions.
