HOLY CARP!!!
I was at a family reunion that ended September 10, 2001. One of my uncles, who lives in Brooklyn, and works in Manhattan was also at the reunion. He had a meeting at WTC on the morning of September 11, 2011. He was tired having just returned from the reunion the night before. He skipped the meeting.

The attack scared him enough that he worked from home for a considerable period of time afterward.

HOLY CARP!!!
It made me realize that people hate us, people who think we hate them.
... when, really, it's all just a silly little misunderstanding.

Let's foster understanding.

ZOOOOOM!
Two friends of mine are in Afghanistan, either for the first time or for yet another rotation. They were not in the army and not involved with international security companies prior to 9/11. My cousin's already been over there and has come back.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

The main effect for me, other than the shock at the time, has been in knowing people who've lost loved ones in the wars that followed. Even knowing people who know people who've lost loved ones is pretty upsetting.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

I saw the ceremonies last night on TV (that is, the first hour, until they thought that Spanish cycle racing was a better feed). I forget the numbers of deceased who died in the wars, although I don't think it's quite matched the nearly 3,000 that died on Sept. 11.

What I do remember is the number of wounded: 40,000.

That's just an enormous number, especially considering "wounded" covers a lot of ground.
