If most stadiums are like the ones where I live, they've added heavy planters and pylons to make it difficult to get a vehicle close to the stadium and, particularly, the major structural elements. Traffic control may be extended a little further away, too, for games this weekend. It's difficult to know what other precautions may be in place that are non-obvious. I wouldn't make any suspicious moves too close to possible targets. Someone might shoot first and ask questions later.
:thumb: Good to know.

Speaking of the Skins/Giants game, is that being televised?

So, we've established that there have been no attacks on US soil since the last big attack on US soil.

In other news, WW2 is still over.

Edit - Oh, I see the discussion has moved on to which football game they should fly a light aircraft into. Thankfully, the Patriots are playing away, because let's face it, everybody hates the Pats.

If they're really determined to cause mayhem, they'll eventually get through. Blaming the President, or anybody else, for this kind of thing is pretty silly, but sadly rather typical of the current political climate. I seem to remember some morons blaming Bush and/or Clinton, for the 9-11 attack, when it was clearly attributable to tax cuts and lack of legislation that was not introduced under the Roosevelt government. And when I say Roosevelt, I mean, of course, Teddy.

Of course, what often happens when a country is attacked is that the President's popularity goes through the roof for a time. Margaret Thatcher got re-elected on the back of the most horrible break-down in intelligence that in part led to the Falklands War, which she of course won virtually single-handed, despite at that time resembling the lady with the dead sister who was in charge of the winged monkeys.

I believe he meant post-9/11. At least that is how I understood it. If there had never been a 9/11 the statement would come off as rather nonsensical.
He might have meant that but that's not what he said now is it?

No, it is not.

Nobody should ever talk about attacks without reminding us that Mr. Bush was on duty during 9/11/01.

Many people forget this little known fact.

Improv must be condemned for trying to mislead this forum.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I suppose you're of the opinion that it was all by accident that there were no attacks during the last ten years, and now things are in such good hands we don't need to worry....

As for Copper's suggestion of fire, again, the materials of construction are so flame resistant, that it would take unconventional materials to truly create a hazard to more that a few people in the local immediate area.

OK, well how about a DC Sniper style attack.

A handful of snipers spread around the country with hit & run tactics.

Terror would flourish.

In other news, WW2 is still over.

There are probably some Japanese soldiers hidden in the Indonesian jungle who would beg to differ.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

A lot more Americans died during Bush's presidency than during Clinton's. A lot more English people did too, and my home country wasn't free from attack.

I don't think Bush is to blame for this any more than he was for 9/11 - he did what he felt was necessary, and diverted a lot of the violence away from the US mainland to other theatres. Obama has pretty much the same security system in place as Bush did, so at this point attempting to blame Obama for an attack on US soil would be either stupid or cynical, possibly both.

I'm really bored of Americans taking every possible opportunity to blame a President they don't like for everything that goes wrong. I thought it was dumb when Bush was in charge, and it's equally dumb now.

IMHO, there should be limits to partisan squabbling and childish bickering, and it's a shame that the country can't at least try to pull together when it comes to national security.

OK, the John D'Oh pompous lecture is over for the evening. I'm cracking open the wine.

I've been telling you guys this nation needs to upgrade its electric power grid. Get rid of large fault areas with single points of failures like that while at it.

Public works infrastructure is the right place to put resources into.

I have to agree, Ax. Our infrastructure needs a lot of attention and investment. But not until we cut out unneccessary spending so we can pay for it.

If anything, security is even more overbearing and annoying than it was previously. I don't see any downgrading occurring. Have you got any specific examples?

Anyway, if there is an attack, I'm sure we can all sit back happy in the knowledge that Obama's rating will further decrease. It might help you to feel better about them finding bin Laden
