I might be stranded

Every path home from work that I know of is temporarily closed due to flooding. If the waters don't recede, I could be facing a choice between staying over at work, or spending an exorbitant amount of money for a hotel room.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Oh man, stay safe. Better work/hotel than getting in over your head; sorry - hope things recede and you're able to head home.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Been in a hotel all week in Texas, now in a hotel in Bowling Green, OH (actually in a restaurant called Sam B's, but heading back to the hotel soon) for a meeting in Detroit tomorrow. If work doesn't have a shower, go to the hotel. Get on Priceline. I got a four star for sixty bucks a couple weeks ago.

Do not drown. And you know I like you if I am cautioning another fricking Steelers fan to be careful.

But don't push it.

Really, be very careful. I had a friend die during flash flooding here just a few years ago. Scary stuff.

Yup, Centreville Road was closed between Floris and McLaren, what a mess.

It took me about 45 minutes to get about half a mile from my house.

M&M's had to come get me as the starter's out on the other car. She had to drive up to West Ox, all the way down to Fair Lakes (50 was closed, as was Waples Mill), Fair Lakes detoured past down to 7100, then she was finally able to get on 66.

I blame the federal regulators.

If we didn't have to use those limited flow faucet aerators we'd be using our water instead of having it flow down the streets.

I take mine off. You wouldn't believe the flow that comes out of the faucet now. :D

The flooding around this area has been remarkable. I heard about the 12 year old boy swept away by the flooded creek in his backyard. Body found miles down stream in Vienna, VA.

By the time the hurricane that hit the east coast of the U.S. reached Maine, it had been downgraded to a tropical storm. But we were out of power here in The Pine Tree State for over a week or so.

However, we were lucky considering what happened in Vermont. And although where I live in Maine isn't a short drive to that state, to storm standards, it came close to hitting us with the enourmous amounts of rain Vermont is suffering from since I'm probably only a two and a half hour drive from the worst-hit areas in VT.

I'm sorry to all those in Vermont who took the brunt of it.

I wish I could take a lot of this rain we've gotten here in the east and send it to Texas.

I'm fortunate to live in a state which is one of the safest in the world when it comes to natural disasters. Sure Maine is cold as can be in the winter. But we don't get the fires like the west gets (the last massive fire in Maine was way back in 1947), we don't have a hurricane issue that's nearly as bad as Florida and some other areas in the south has, and tornadoes are far-and-few between up here.
